Blackburn Rovers continue to have the bragging rights until we meet Burnley again later in the season (at least) and Rovers manager Sam Allardyce was delighted with the 3-2 win.
With matches against Chelsea and Manchester United coming up it was vitally important that Rovers got something from this match and goals from David Dunn, Franco Di Santo and Pascal Chimbonda ensured that we did this at Ewood Park, and Allardyce was delighted.
Allardyce told Sky Sports: "We are very pleased for ourselves first and foremost, but for the fans as well because there was terrific support.
"It was a wonderful performance and a wonderful result coming from behind, with some excellent quality goals.
"Often derby games can pass by as ordinary games in terms of the football that is played but I don't think you can complain about the quality of the goals.
"It is a great three points bearing in mind this was a local derby and bearing in mind our next two fixtures are Chelsea away and Manchester United away."
We totally deserved the three points and just how much this meant to everyone was clearly visible.
Dunn (who was superb once again) was named as the Man of the Match and his wonderful display saw him earn praise again, as did Di Santo who was also excellent and finally scored his first goal in English football.
He added: "We have dropped him in that little position, we have got him fit and now we have got some terrific performances out of him.
"Franco also contributed well for the first goal and got one himself, so those two were terrific for us."
Rovers skipper Ryan Nelsen said that Dunny must be pushing for an International recall for England, however, as much as the midfielder hopes he can get this he knows that he'll have a battle to get back in with so much quality already in place, but you never know??
