Rovers assist in SOS campaign

With the club needing to raide over 300000 pounds to avoid the tax man, Blackburn did their share to assistn Accrington Stanley, making the short trip over for a friendly match. With an eye on the East Lancashire Derby, Sam Allardyce gave his stars short 30 minute stints, as well as giving several fringe and youth players a shot.

The Starting Line up was

Brown
Jackson Ramm (who?)
Martin Olsson
Jason Lowe (another who? no disrespect meant!)
Phil Jones
Gael Givet
Junior Hoillet
Nikola Kalinic
Jason Roberts
Benni mcCarthy
Morten Gamst Pedersen

Rovers pinched an early goal, with a 35 yard Gamst Pedersen free kick finding the net (do this on Sunday please). Changes were made after 30 minutes, with Di Santo coming on and scoring.

Stanley pulled one back in the second half after more Rovers changes at the 60th minute, however Marcus Marshall netted from the spot after being brought down in the box.

Final score, 3-1 Rovers....

This is a great effort by Accy and the local sides. I know Burnley have already done their bit, now we are doing ours. I hope evryone that could attend enjoyed themselves.

anyone know how much was raised?
sasman
uh what formation were we playing cus im seeing 4 strikers and thats a first 4 rovers
aadil4rovers
it changed a lot from what I understand! lots of players only played 30 mins etc...
Mikey Delap
yeah but thats the starting eleven
aadil4rovers
As far as I know it was more of a 4-3-1-2 formation. Benni in the hole with Morten and Junior acting as wingers and Jackson Ramm playing the holding role...
Mikey Delap
Good to c gamst scoring a free kick hopefully hes gettin his touch back
aadil4rovers
I really hope that Accrington can raise the money that is needed, I'm proud to say that we've done our bit to try to help though, we couldn't have done anymore could we??
Walker
besidesa actually just giving the money I dont think so! I really hope Accrington survive, they are part of the areas heritage.
Mikey Delap
surely though, we could spare a bit of dosh. Sure, we arent oblidged to do anything, but geez, i dont no too much, but we dont have any real rivalry with stanley do we? Im sure we could even make them a feeder club....loans for some of our youth i dunno
sasman
They kinda of are in an unoffical way - Stanley have always had good links with Burnley, Rovers and Morecambe in particular.
Mikey Delap
Yeah but we can make it official you have to pay the feeder club some cash. But i mean we arnt exactly financially stable but we could spare a couple of ten thousands i guess. No matter how broke we are im sure we have that money floating around or mayby another blackburn burnley derby to be played in their stadium im sure that would be a sell out
