Rover and out for Emo???

With the Hyundai A-League Expansion well underway, it is believed a Western Sydney consortium has been given license to enter the Australian competition starting in 2011. Brett Emerton has long been a keen admirer of returning home once his current contract at Rover's coming to an end.

In 2008, Brett signed a 4 year deal, keeping him at the club until 2012. However, with the new license, it is believed that Emerton would be targeted as a marquee signing for the yet to be named Western Sydney outfit. Born in the heart Inner West Sydney, Bankstown (the place yours truly also calls home), Brett would have a difficult decision on his hands, leave the club he has called home since 2003 and assist develop the newly formed club, or finish of his contract at Rovers and link up with the Australian club in its second season.

Either way, time will tell, but the word is Emerton will be coming home a year early, with the possibility of a link between the Western Sydney Consortium and Rover's being established....

As much as i want to see the A-League succeed, Emo leaving early would be nothing short of a tradgedy. He'll be back into our starting line-up very soon and has years of top football in him. It may only be a year, but its a year that shoudn't be spent with those mugs from Sydney (hey Sas)

Sorry I'm also from Bankstown and the a-league sucks. The footy is no better than our all age games - and we dont play on the perfect surfaces do. Stay at blackburn Emerton!

Contracts dont mean anything in football anymore so if he decided to go he'd go, i can see the appeal of returning home but surely while he's still got a list footie at his feet he'd choose to stay in the uk and return to play in his homeland in his twilight years.

come on Brett stay here at Rovers - I invisage that Brett has at least 3 good season sin him yet due to his great fitness record (barring last seasons injury!)... we still love you Brett!!!

He should have his testimonial and then move on in my eyes (in line with what 23 has said here). Ten years would be impressive.

Dont wanna lose Emo but when uv lost Shearer, Sutton, Duff, Le Saux, Bellamy, Friedel and RSC to mention a few and lived to tell the tale then hey ho....it wouldnt be the end of the world and wouldnt be a tragedy......my only sentiment is thta Emo seems to have a genuine affection for the club.

Aye, Emo would never leave Rovers for a rival club thats for sure!
