2018 Cities Bid Updates - Liverpool (Blackburn)

The first round of FA visits to all the potential host cities has now taken place and round two has begun. Of the original fifteen starters, all have passed the first stage and in fact, a sixteenth, Plymouth, have added their name.

From Vital England:

Liverpool have enrolled the help of Blackburn Rovers, Preston North End, Wigan Athletic and Tranmere Rovers in their bid. They have all agreed to allow their stadiums to be used as training bases for competing national teams.

so i am presuming Ewood wont actually host games at the world cup?....and anyways, we want the world cup!! lol though i do think 2018 will go to Europe, hopefully we can snag 2022 and show all of you how to really host an event....ala the Best Olympic Games ever, Sydney 2000
sasman
nah ewood doesnt have the capacity nor the glamour for hosting world cup games. Stadiums like anfield, old trafford, st james', white hart lane, the emirates, hillsborough, wembley (of course), villa park, goodison, eastlands are stadiums that spring to mind. And lets not forget the best commonwealth games ever - Manchester 2002.

mate, only reason manchester has the best commonwealth games is because sydney hasnt hosted one. period. lol
sasman
nice try... it was the best ever and Aussies have hosted before. Manchester showed London how it should be done!
Mikey D
I said Sydney buddy....brisbane and melbourne have hosted it....their inferior colonies..who aspire to be like sydney lol
