Emo Can't Wait To Get Back On The Pitch

One half of the Australian connection at Rovers, Brett Emerton is finally about to make his first team return after suffering his first serious injury... ever!

Sas and Retros' boy (not literally) was crocked during an isolated incident away at Middlesbrough last February and has been out of action ever since - but now he's back.

And on a personal level, he can't wait to get back on the pitch.

Brett Emerton speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire - 'It was the first major injury of my career and it took time to sink in.

'It's been a good road to recovery. I feel fit and strong and as good as ever,' the 30-year-old added.

'I thought I'd just twisted my knee at first. It wasn't until the following day that I went for a scan and found out that it was my cruciate.

'I was very surprised at first that it was something so serious.'

Adding to his woe, Brett felt the most frustrating part of his absence was not being able to make an impact on the relegation run in last season.

Emo continued - 'I hated every minute of it. The boys did a fantastic job at the back end of last season,' he said.

'I went home for the surgery and spent two months in Australia. I didn't watch too many of the games to be honest because I couldn't bear to.

'The boys dug in and put in some great performances and I thank them for that because now we get to play in the Premier League again.'

From my point of view it is great to have Brett Emerton back on the pitch in blue and white. At the start of his Rovers career he was a trier, but a frustrating one as he was weak in the tackle and wasteful with the ball... but not anymore.

Last season he was a bull and one of Rovers best players. Now he's back I am confident he will continue in the same way and we will be much better off for it.

It will be so good to get theman back on the pitch as he has a quality that very few Rovers players have - pace.

Great news. Brett was easily our best player last season until he was injured. He gives us loads more options all over the pitch.

Best news yet this season, great player adds balance to the midfield and can slot in at RB when needed.

Emerton is just absolute quality and can play rite back, rite midfield, centre midfield, can tackle, has a great cross and play the killer pass as well, not a bad player to be getting back into the team.....lets hope he can play for the rest of the season....
