Zurab Set For Middlesbrough

Zurab Khizanishvili is ready to sign for Gareth Southgate's Middlesbrough on loan when the Football League loan window re-opens today.

The underrated Georgian hs been told he can leave Ewood if a suitable move for both parties can be agreed. For the time being a temporary move will help The Monk get some regular first team action and for Rovers it will get him off the payroll.

Boro and Rovers are in dialogue for the move and Khiza apparently seems keen to make the move the move to get some games as he continues to be fourth choice centre back behind Ryan Nelsen, Chris Samba and Gael Givet.

Rovers are well known to be under pressure to ease financial pressure and Khizanishvili is one of those players that falls under the bracket of 'good but expendable'.

Furthermore Zurab has always been a better player that I feel many give him credit for - it will be a good move Boro and I doubt many Rovers fans will begrudge Khiza a move to help him get some games.

we must really be financially struggling at the moment....this is a shame, unfortunately nelsen is a touch injury prone (yes i know, im one to talk..cough cough grella) we could of used him...

I think it is probably just as much Zurab wanting some game as well though, it will be appeaing to the board though to get the wages off the books for a bit. Good luck to him!

I think it maybe isnt too bad on the aul financial side of things, lets not forget its Zurab after all, im sure his wages arent on the small side for a player who in all honestly does not play for us...more than 10 games all in, a season.... so it makes sense to get rid and free up some extra money..after all Chimbonda can play in the middle and we have some very good youngsters coming through...I think its a good transfer for all - Boro are desperate for a defender...Zurab needs to be playing ( he's too under-rated not too ) and we can get rid of him and free up some spare cash.....

I agree.. it's a good deal for everybody.

Never really rated this guy. I thought his decision making was terrible and was most likely to give away a penalty. Step up Phil Jones or Gavin Gunning. Also from the first half last night it looks like we have a very good player in Van heerden. He looks like a clever player and was willing to take players on plus he played 1 excellent ball through the 2 centre halves which would have been pass of the game only it was a little strong. Cant wait to see more

Van Heerden - Fit for south africa, but deemed unfit to play buy rovers? hmm.

good luck to monk, but he was never going to make our first team.

RE: Van heerden - its not that he is unfit to play for Rovers its just that Sam is trying to muscle him up to play the Premiership style of play...

The Monk does a job asked of him when he is asked, that we can't fault him for. It's extra money for us and gives him the first-team football he wants.
