Rovers Enjoy Dull End To Transfer Window

In one of the wierdest articles I will ever post I am here to report that nothing happened on transfer deadline day.

There were rumours that Benni McCarthy, Zurab Khizanishvilli, Morten Gamst Pedersen and Keith Andrews could be sacrificed to make way for new signings but in the end the drum roll sounded and nothing new developed.

In what was easily the worst transfer deadline day I can remember, very few notable deals were completed as Premier League teams tried in vain to add quality to their squads.

In my eyes we are still strong as (when everybody is fit) we have a first X1 and subs bench to match most teams.

At least until January we have the following players to make an impact on the first team -

Goalkeepers

Paul Robinson
Jason Brown

Defenders

Lars Jacobsen
Ryan Nelsen
Chris Samba
Zurab Khizanishvilli
Gael Givet
Pascal Chimbonda
Martin Olsson
Michel Salgado

Midfielders

Brett Emerton
Steven Reid
David Dunn
Vince Grella
Keith Andrews
Steven N'Zonzi
Morten Gamst Pedersen
El Hadji Diouf
Aaron Doran
Elrio Van Heerden

Strikers

Benni McCarthy
Nikola Kalinic
Franco Di Santo
Jason Roberts
Junior Holiett.

Personally I am quite happy with that.

Not the best day for excitement reallt but I believe we can roll with what we have.

I think NOT losing anymore of our players off-sets the lack of activity coming in as well......im happy with the current squad as it is, just have to use the game against West Ham to kick on now, as maybe boring as it was, it was a valuable point....

There has been enough change for one close season - If the players gel and play to their potential it could be a good season - if not it'll be more of the same. I'm curious to see who will secure the regular midfield places? There is still the possibility of an 'out of contract' player - can't see BSA missing a golden opportunity of picking up a free transfer if the player is right for us.

Well Bolo Zenden has been mentioned for one hasnt he? Also Lucas Neill is free now!?!?! lol

Didnt really think the board would of sanctioned anymore signings tbh, just glad no one else has left and we can try to stabalize and gel towards being a better team, just keep them fit rather than crocked.

Just read that all the remaining money bar a few milion will be used to appease debt... I thought that would be the way of it!

you didnt mention judas........

which one?!? Lucas Neill or Santa Cruz?!?

i think the right decision was made. If we had sold any more players then I think that would lead have meant that a team would have been too radically different. But i think in Jan. we may need to do a couple of swap deals for players not performing

We'd have signed players for the sake of signing them, just look at the squad. Can anyone really say that we needed much more??
