Blackburn Agree Fee For Chimbonda

Blackburn have this morning agreed to pay 2 million for Spurs utility defender Pascal Chimbonda.

The fee was agreed and announced about an hour ago and will allow Stephen Warnock to complete his 8 million move to Aston Villa.

Sam has insisted he wants two players for the 8 million he will get for selling Warnock and now it seems that player number one is on his way.

This is a good deal for all parties as Pascal is a versatile player who is better than his second turgid spell at Spurs indicates and add into the mix that he is surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane and we have an agreement that will suit everybody.

Expect this one to be wrapped up quickly.

He may not be the most popular player about but he is good and allows us some cash to spend elsewhere. Good work for me!

You will get excellent value for the money here. Given a good run of matches and some faith, he is a very good player.
Good player on the cheap to be fair. Not really needed at WHL but still like I say a good player for a good price.

isnt chimbonda a right sided player though?
i think he is primarily right footed but can play all across the back, have always rated him since he came to the PL as he gives you an extra something down the flanks.... could turn out to be an interesting move....
I think he's associated with playing right back but I've seen him credited with being able to play across the back four?? - in which case his versatility will be very useful - especially if Ollson needs more time to get upto speed. Press have also liked us with Gregory Cerdan -amongst others - I wonder if BSA is hedging his bets if Ryan Nelson looks likely to be injury prone?
He has played plenty of times for Spurs at left back....
Mikey D
Good player but with an attitude, I'm sure Fat Sam will keep him under control. Good at getting forward and great header of the ball but tackling can let him down.
great deal for you guys, best of luck to pascal, who is in no way as disloyal as painted by many.
thats what we like to hear - I personally think he has suffered in the media through one mistake he made whilst at Wigan. Sam is just the guy to get the best out of him.

A good buy for you. He has played left, right and centre. Versatile and when he is loved he will deliver. All the best Chimbo
ok maybe a good deal but i am personally not sure we need another right back with lars, salagdo and emerton able to play there. I would have liked us to sign a left footed left back not somebody who occasionally plays there
I tell u what boys....the spurs fans dont seem to have a bad word for him so he'll do for me!!!!!
He will be a great signing plus we badly needed some pace at the back. We are slowly building a very solid squad
That's him. Way past his prime, desperate, a real clogger -- Sam Allardyce's buddy...
I can only really see him as cover as im struggling to find a place for him at the back. With players fit i see it as Givet @ LB. Samba & Nelson in the middle with Jacobsen @ RB. I dont think Salgado will be playing in defense so I'm not worried about his place but is chimbonda good enough to knock Givet from LB? (no) I've been very pleased with Jacobsen's performances so far and think he looks like he's going to be playing there for a while. Not saying i don't want Chimbonda, he's a decent player, but will he be happy if he's not a regular starter?
He's a great fullback on his day, total bargain for 2 million, his attitude isn't as bad as some make out,he's been very quiet since he came back, despite not playing much,he is totally one footed,so to say he can play all across the back four, well, lets just say he can,but it depends about the standard of opposition,he is a much better right back than left.
I have heard that we could be in the running for Boro's left back, I think his name is Taylor?? this could allow Jacobson and Chim to fight for left back, Givet and Taylor for left, the usual suspects in the middle and Emerton to move back into midfield...prob the middle as he has added bite to his all over game... The good thing here being that both Givet and Chimbonda can play in the centre of defense as well....slowly building up a good squad, it will be a blow to lose Warnock and I for one cant see the reason why he's leaving Rovers for Villa, who now CANT break into the top 5, good team dont get me wrong BUT they dont have the money to compete with those 5 im sorry to say...while Rovers on a good season could challenge for the Top 10, just like Villa will....
Agree with fransavarese to a point but with Ryan Nelson injured for the second time already this season - we could do with someone who can fit in wherever he is needed - and provide some added cover to the centre of defence (Nelson / Samba / Givet /Khizanishvili / Chimonda) and at Left back (Givet/ Chimbonda / Ollson). We've also shipped some early goals against the run of play so BSA has a few more options now?
If we can get this Taylor guy then we could be quids in... I think having Chimbo and Jacobsen then Givet and Taylor fighting out their respective positions would be cool and we have the making of a good squad.
Mikey D
Ive liked Chimbo and im sure he'l play well for Rovers, again not sure about him playing any role across the back but extra cover makes a change for us, bit of competition for places is healthy, Taylor would be a good buy, he's young & talented.
mutts nutts
I really want Taylor in, i rate him + it would mean chimbo can play RB and NOT be a lb, as not many rate him there..
