Rovers In Talks With Steve Gohouri??

Blackburn Rovers are understood to be interested in Steve Gohouri, however, the same newspaper reports are saying this is because we're expecting a bid for Christopher Samba??

Samba has been reportedly attracting the attentions of the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur for many months (however, this has been denied) and the implication in the Daily Mirror is that Ivory Coast International Gohouri is being lined up as a possible replacement for the Wall.

The Borussia Monchengladbach central defender (another giant like Samba) is understood to be interested in a move to the Premier League and as he's in the final year of his contract the 28-year-old would come in at a reduced fee with the German side concerned about losing Gohouri (who has previously played in France, Italy, Israel and Liechtenstein before Germany) on a FREE Transfer next summer. The report says that with Everton understood to have joined those interested in the Wall Allardyce has invited Gohouri for a "test" (a trial??) and is keen to have talks with him as he lines up a replacement??

Steve Gohouri as an addition to the squad I would take, as a replacement for Christopher Samba NO!! If Everton sell Lescott to Manchester City though they might come in with a big offer for the Wall??

Samba is good, maybe not as consistant without Nelsen, but not irreplaceable......unlike Nelsen
Clint
This sounds like a classic case of two and two together making 5!!!

If Everton sell Lescott, then they should have to pay the same price for Samba. We should have at least 11-13 million quid for Samba. Then we could have money to attempt a real playmaker on midfield and even replace Samba. But that has to be players who can step right in. I really getting sick of myself saying this, I really don´t think we should sell Samba, but we need money.

If sam shipped Samba out how who will they play the long ball to?, realisticly i think if a serious offer was made and we had good coverage as a replacement then we'd have to accept, i dont want to see the big man leave anymore than everyone else on here but like lazyfrog said we do need the money, wheres that saudi billionaire for rovers??
mutts nutts
We really dont need to sell him and I still dont think we will.Sam said no more stars leave and I believe him.

If an offer of £10 million+ comes in for the big man.. I reckon he's as good as gone! I like Samba but as some of you have said already he's not irreplaceable. As long as a suitable replacement can be found cheapish enough and the rest is spent on a decent midfielder I've no problem with it.

The only problem with a replacement is that he has to be pro like Salgado, or played in Premier League to be useful in our squad. We can´t afford patience on defender to develop a hole season. We need players who can give the rest of the mates something already at his first praticing. Then it will probably be stupid to get a guy from Germany, that´s a horribol league compared to Premier League. If this is about money, then we should sell (i hate myself for saying this) Stephen Warnock. The we could replace him with Gareth Bale and the buy a playmaker aswell.
lazyfrog
We got Samba from the German league though if you remember?
Mikey D
lol yeah we got him from Germany and very cheap. But i would not be keen to sell him. He is young, talented and we want to go up. All this crap about us needing the money- we simply don't. We have the players to do great things so lets forget about selling our best and get on with moving up the ladder
