Salgado: I Have Joined A Historic Club

Blackburn Rovers defender Michel Salgado is VERY happy to have his moved to the Premier League and is more than happy to have completed his switch to Ewood Park.

Many will question why a player of Salgado's stature has joined "a club like Rovers", but we would say WHY NOT!! The 33-year-old is looking forward to the challenge and feels that in Rovers he's joined a historic club, which he has.

Salgado told the Sun: "Now I want to enjoy the next two years, playing in the Premier League. It is one of the best in the world.

"Not only that it is pure football ā€” fantastic games and a fantastic atmosphere.

"This will be a good experience for me, my wife and children. I have joined a historic club
."

The Spanish International (who has won 53 caps) ended a ten-year stay with Real Madrid earlier this month and today Sam Allardyce managed to pull of a major coup in bringing the right-back to Ewood Park.

Salgado has also revealed that he has been waiting for many years to play in England after rejecting the chance to come to the Premier League five-years ago. At the time Salgado didn't want to leave the Bernabeu (when Chelsea moved for him), however, he will miss Real Madrid but will always be proud to have played for them.

He added: "I had a chance to come to Chelsea but I was lucky because my team was Real Madrid.

"I love the club, I was there 10 years ā€” it is a lifetime. I am proud of playing for them for so long.
"

If Salgado can offer us a fraction of what he's offered Real Madrid over the past decade then we'll not go far wrong and this could be a masterstroke by Big Sam!!
