'If It's Football, It's Vital'

An Open Letter To Jack Walker

Dear Jack,

Not a day goes by when I dont miss you and I hope you realise how much you meant to us all here at Rovers.

You are still the best thing that ever happened to us and probably that ever will happen as well.

You gave us so much and all for the love of Blackburn Rovers and for that we will never be able to repay what you let us experience.

I owe everything to you... the League title, Rovers in the Premier League, the rise through the divisions, the Worthington Cup win, every player that walked through the door during the golden era and for letting me see and experience things as a fan that I would of not of thought possible if it wasnt for you.

I am eternally grateful for the impact you had at Blackburn and to boot you were one of the nicest guys anyone had the honour of meeting.

In closing I am not ashamed to say that you will always have my unconditional love.

Thanks for everything great man,

Mikey.

I put this on the forum before and its a little personal but I thought it would be nice to share my thoughts and feelings about Jack Walker. If anyone else has any tributes then that would be really cool.

That is brilliant Mikey! the man will aaaaaaaaaalways live on at Ewood, its a shame there are not as many men in football as owners as passionate for their own clubs as he was! Forever Grateful!

If Jack Walker hadn´t accomplished his biggest dream, Rovers would have been a really litte club, and I would probably ended up as a *****ty supporter for another team. Thank you Sir Walker for doing this, not only for yourself, but for the citizen in Blackburn and the rest of Rovers supporters. To many compares Walkers dream with what Chelski and City are doing now a days. That´s so rude and so wrong. Roman A are just using Chelsea to wash his black and dirty money, why have he stopped the billion givts to Chelsea??? Because he probably have washed a lot already. And the Abu group in Scumbrothers City, I really don´t need to mention their intention. But they are far far far and way of the dream Jack Walker had at the start of the 90´s. His reason for selling his industry was to give the citizen a club who could compete with the strongest one, and reason number one; he so so so wanted to see his club in his heart, lifting the Premier League Trophy, and they did :) This wasn´t for personal earnings, this was personal passion for Blackburn. RIP Jack "big hearted" Walker, we will always remember you as a legend.

I would add a personal thank you for my dad and many like him - loyal supporters and season ticket holders who could remember the greats, Clayton, Douglas, Briggs, Whelan and many more. He lived long enough to witness the SAS take Rovers to the pinnacle of English football after many years in the second and third divisions. For the rest of us - we are in your debt - your legacy is an established Premier League club and a stadium fit for the Premier League. Thank You.
YORK ROVER
Don't forget the trust fund he left behind - even Rovers current crop are partly financed by him... Rest in Peace Uncle Jack.
Wellsy
It's a fantastic story of a fan's love for a team. Rovers were fortunate to have him as a fan and they made the most of it. You coulkdn't have made it up. Another reason why football is the most compelling sport in the world.

A very open and moving letter Mikey, football needs more men of character like Jack Walker. All together now ''Uncle Jacks Blue & White Army''...

This is my first time posting on this site. I've been a rovers supporter since I was 15 (1999 season). Before that I supported Manure (I ashamed to say), for the same reason most support them...some1 gave me a utd jersey when I was young and my big bro supports them. I always had an appreciation for Rovers because they were and are one of the best proper footballing clubs. Jack Walker is a true legend for the reasons Norwegianrover mentioned in his post!! Some compare rovers success in the 90’s to what Chelski and *****ty are doing these days. What Jack Walker and rovers accomplished is much more that these teams. Sure we had more buying power then but nothing compared to what is being spent today on transfers and wages. Jack bought A.S for 3.5mil and Newcastle paid 15m for him 4years later and won NOTHING!! He deserves massive credit and respect for leaving us a club that is self-sufficient and still in the biggest and best league in the world even if we can’t compete financially! Arte et labore

Hear hear Mr Mikey, well said you've summed things up perfectly about a true legend someone that loved the club as much (arguably more so) than the fans as he was a true fan. A moving letter Mr Mikey that has made me emotional before I set of to work.
