Rovers Ready To Unleash Kalinic

Blackburn Rovers striker Nikola Kalinic is being earmarked to make his Rovers debut against Gillingham in the Carling Cup a week on Tuesday.

The Croatian International has now been granted his work permit but he's some way behind everyone else with his fitness so Sam Allardyce isn't going to rush him but the Carling Cup match with Gillingham looks like being the match when the 21-year-old is unleashed.

Allardyce told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Kalinic will probably play at Gillingham at the earliest.

"We will have a look at him and bring him on slowly.
"

It shouldn't take Kalinic long to get up to speed and (despite not saying Gillingham will be easy) the Cup match represents a good opportunity for the striker to start his Rovers career with a bang!!

It would be a good game to blood him in to. Then we caqn guage whether he is ready for a league game at this point...

Not sure if we can say that we can asses if he is rady for League action of the back of that match, no disrespect to Gillingham meant. It's a good match to start with though.
