Nelsen, Samba & Gallagher All Rovers Doubts!!

Blackburn Rovers are facing up to the prospect of a central defender crisis ahead of the start of the new Premier League season!!

Key defender Ryan Nelsen and Christopher Samba, along with Paul Gallagher (who's future remains uncertain anyway) all picked up knocks in the 2-0 defeat at Dundee United on Saturday and are all now major doubts for the match with Manchester City on Saturday!!

Allardyce told the Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "Unfortunately I think from our point of view that the game was over when Gally, Ryan and Chris got injuries, and they are looking pretty serious as well for next week.

"We will just hope and keep our fingers crossed through the week that we can get some of them fit.
"

Sam Allardyce doesn't yet know the full extent and seriousness of the injuries, however, he concedes that hamstring strains to Samba and Gallagher and a knee problem (possibly medial ligament) with Nelsen leave us sweating on all three but he doesn't think they'll make it!?

He added: "With Ryan it looks like a medial ligament, and Gally and Chris are hamstrings. We'll know better as to how seriously they are injured on Sunday and Monday when we get scans on them, obviously.

"But all three are pretty doubtful for next week.
"

With Vince Grella and David Dunn already confirmed as being out and an International schedule to content with this week as well we'll be left worrying EVEN MORE that further injuries could be collected on Tuesday/Wednesday so everyone best pray as much as they can!!

Rover23 ur smokin summat mate!!! ha ha Emo hasn't even played a game this summer and Van HEERDEN is 5ft 2 n about 6 stone - defo not a cm!!!! Ince was notorious for puttin square pegs in round holes!!! Gotta be Robinson, Jacobsen, Zurab, Givet, Warnock, Diouf, Nzonzi, Andrews, Pederson, Di Santo, Mcarthey/Roberts - He may play Ollson at LB n switch Warnock to CM but it wont be far off that!!......Gally, Nelsen, Samba, Dunn and Grella injured....Reid n Emo not fit....Has Kalinic work permit not come thru????

Just don't play Jacobsen in the middle, he is just best at the right side. But it seems like we have big hill to overcome this week....cheers

We are down to the bare bones but the team mani put out there is the way I would play if all 3 are not good.

the yebda story may have been formulated with some element of truth....sam is obviously worried with the long term fitness of Reid Dunn and Grella....I think Dunn is vulnerable at Rovers at the mo
mani13963
Grella should be good to go first I reckon, then Emo then Dunny and Reid about the same time if the club are to believed.

At least the injury bug strikes without bias. It looks like Citeh is down to their last 8 strikers. Without Samba and Nelson holding down the fort, I would go with a back line of Olsson, Givet, Andrews, Jacobsen and a midfield of MGP, Warnock, Nzonzi and Diouf. Our obvious weak side will be the left but if Warnock and MGP play help-defense from the midfield, we can control the ball and slow down any attacks. What we're really giving up is our advantage in the air on set pieces.

What's the chance of Nelson and / or Samba passing a late fitness test before Saturday? Does not bode well if they are both long term injury problems.
