Gallagher Braced For Rovers Exit

Blackburn Rovers striker Paul Gallagher was being given one final chance to prove himself at Ewood Park, despite scoring goals in Pre-Season this isn't likely to be enough to save him.

Gallagher (a supporter of Rovers since he was a boy) has never wanted to leave Ewood but has always been on the fringes of things for Rovers being sent out on loan repeatedly, however, Sam Allardyce had said that Gally would be given one final chance to prove himself.

Personally I've never expected Gally to be given a chance this season and the arrivals of Franco Di Santo and Nikola Kalinic (who is understood to have agreed a deal subject to a work permit) have seen his chances, which had increased following the departures of Roque Santa and Matt Derbyshire rapidly decrease again and the Lancashire Telegraph understands that the 24-year-old is resigned to his fate.

Bristol City, Derby County and Preston North End are just a few of the Championship clubs that are all interested in the striker who is now expected to leave Ewood for good. Personally I'll be sad to see Gally go (assuming he does??) but have been expecting this for a long time and was never sold on the thoughts that Allardyce shared that Gally would get his chance this season. Maybe he still will?? I'd VERY much doubt this though!!

With the two new guys coming in it looks inevitable - which is a shame as he has looked good this pre-season.

I Thought that Gallagher would at least get the first half of the season to prove himself - it seems a bit unfair to judge him pre-season. I think that the comments about him proving himself were made as Rovers seemed to be facing a striker shortage - now with Di Santo, Kalinic, Benni and Jason, not to mention Hoilett, Gallagher seems to be facing an uphill struggle just to get a place on the bench! After the challenge to prove himself, I think he deserves a chance until January at least - I'd like him to succeed as loyalty to a club is a rare commodity these days.

That would be in an ideal world mate but it seems unlikely as Gally seems to want first team games!

Gallagher has had plenty of opportunities to stake a claim for a first team place, both here at Rovers and at the many loan clubs he has played for, none of which were prepared to make a decent offer for him. He isn't as good as any of the other four strikers, so why would Big Sam keep him? For me his time is up, time to free up the wages for a player that offers Rovers more.

I would sell Benni instead and keep Gallacher until January at least to give him a real chance.....cheeers

doubt gally will even get a real chance! when asking people on the forum to name a starting 11 and subs, i dont think anyone even put him on the subs bench! which is a shame, i wish there was a fairy tale ending for him that he came back for us and helped us into europe, but i dont think he has the calibur!! if we do let him go, i wish him all the best!

he has played well over the pre season friendlies, where as others have failed. I think he deserves at the least 6 months. Why not even get him on the flank. Dont think the lad has been given a fair go....

We've got Di Santo for 6 months...Better to loan him out for the duration of Di Santo's stay, then bring him back if DS leaves. If he has a future here at all, that is...

Sadly only 8 goals in i think 73 games over 7 years, loyalty counts for nothing but i really wish Gally finally gets the reward he deserves for all that hes shown to Rovers. Saying that Gally or BFS have actually officially stated on this so most likely paper talk.

I don't think that we need to be officially told anything about this for us to know that it's clear that Gally doesn't have much of a chance does he??

Like previously said, Gally has had numerous chances to prove himself. I was actually at the game (against Arsenal I think) when he made his senior debut off the bench and always hoped he'd flourish but, a little like Derbs, he hasnt produced consistently and maybe its better for all concerned thast he starts fresh. The best of luck to him in whatever happens!

Keep him I say for what it is worth! We need more cover at right wing!

we need a right winger for right wing, not strikers. It didnt work with Derbs, it didnt work with Gally before and its barely working with Spit. Id rather an out and out right sided midfielder out there.
