Kalinic's Rovers Move Agreed In Principle??

Blackburn Rovers are understood to be closing in on Nikola Kalinic after reportedly agreeing a deal in principle with Hadjuk Split.

The 21-year-old striker suddenly appeared from nowhere on Friday to look as though he's now a dead cert to sign for Rovers. Kalinic was understood to be on the verge of a move to Portsmouth before this deal collapsed and Rovers moved in and are now understood to be close to completing his £6 million signing.

Speculation remains that Portsmouth (and Porto) remain interested in Kalinic but it's thought that a deal has been agreed for the Croatian to sign a four-year contract and his arrival at Ewood Park will be confirmed upon him successfully being granted a work permit.

I hear this deal is done in Croatia and that he has agreed to sign for you guys but they said the same thing for Portsmouth so I dont want to bring you guys bogus news. I dont think Porto is in the run as for he wont get enough playing time there. So it is whether Portsmouth will offer more now and if not he is a Rover.

The croatian Times reports the following......3rd August 2009. Hajduk Split player Kalinic transfers to Blackburn Croatian Times Hajduk Split player Nikola Kalinic has signed a four-year contract with Blackburn Rovers that will mean seven million Euros for the Croatian club. It is the largest amount that has been paid for a Hajduk player. Hajduk will receive seven million Euros plus 15 per cent of the value of any future transfer by Kalinic to another club, the Sportal website has reported. Kalinic will earn around one 1.7 million pounds or 1.99 million Euros per season. Kalinic’s manager Tomislav Erceg said: "I have been told Kalinic’s transfer is the biggest after Alen Shearer’s. Finally, I believe everything has been concluded. Kalinic has passed all the medical exams, and he will probably not return to Croatia but join his new team." Hajduk officials Mate Peros and Jako Andabak said Kalinic’s transfer to Portsmouth had failed because they had concluded Portsmouth officials had been playing games with them and, meanwhile, Blackburn had made a better offer. Peros and Andabak said Kalinic had been welcomed as a star by Blackburn. Peros said: "All I can say to you is that is the best offer we received for Kalinic. It is the biggest and best transfer Hajduk has arranged for one of its players."
