Are The Papers That Bored/Stupid/Out Of Ideas?

We have reached the part of the summer where everything transfer wise seems to be in limbo, a small part of the summer where there seems to be a lull and real news can be at a premium. Which means that the papers and media have two options...

a) Recycle an old story
b) Invent something new with no substance at all.

For option a) please observe the story doing the rounds this morning that Big Sam has 'enquired' about Tottenham right back/money grabber Pascal Chimbonda.

Now quite where Pascal is going to fit in the Rovers team is not disclosed but furthermore why Sam is going to be buying ANOTHER right back to add to the options of Brett Emerton, Lars Jacobsen and Keith Andrews when all his efforts are on buying a striker seems to be something the papers don't want to mention.

For further proof let me guide you back a week to when on Rovers official website Big Sam said 'All my efforts are now on securing firepower to add to our striking options.'

So that one seems to hold loads of water!

Secondly for option b) please let me walk you through the story that Stephen Warnock is a target for Aston Villa.

Now forgetting again that Sam said that 'no other star players will be leaving' the media are convinced that this has wind behind it because Martin O'Neill the Villa manager has said 'he needs to add more numbers to the Villa squad'.

So that means Warnock how exactly? And furthermore they seem to have come up with the sum of £6 million to prise Stephen away.

So Glen Johnson is worth £17 million and Stephen Warnock is worth £6 million?!?! RIIIIIGGHHT.

Now I know this is a bit of a rant but things like this are just plain annoying so it feels good to expose the gossipers from time to time!

Go on have a rant. The papers have to print something - they have no NEWS - so gossip and rubbish is the next best thing. How many press stories about Rovers have been true? 1%?

Its Di Santo D Day lads, if its not announced today, highly unlikely that it will happen. Fingers crossed. Also the Poggy price is around 5 million, which is still to much for Rovers plus Sam wasnt impressed when he watched him on the weekend.
