Zenit Want £9 Million For A £15 Million Player

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce's bid to sign Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak is at full speed - and the price is £9 million.

Allardyce went to watch the forward play for Zenit St Petersburg on Saturday and left Neil McDonald in charge for the friendly away at Leeds.

Allardyce has now been informed that Zenit St.Petersburg want £9 million for their star striker even though he has only a year left to run on his contract in Russia.

Forget the fact that he appears a bit arrogant after his rant in January, forget that he has only a year left on his contract. Sam is being charged in my opinion £6 million less than he should because of the fact he has only a year left on his deal.

In an inflated market from 'The Pog' we are getting value for money which is difficult nowadays.

Sam - pay the £9 million, sign him up and get him on board.

I dont like the fact he said what he said in January but he has the skills and if he shows them and some commitment all will be forgotten.

His comments in January were totally uncalled for. I personally don't see this one going through. If it dos, he's bound to be a mercenary - but then, aren't they all these days?

Honestly. What a stupid article. You are really suggesting that we should pay what Zenit are asking for, for a player who's contract is due to expire in 5 months time? If Sam has any balls, he should offer them £5 million and carry on with his search in the meantime. We should not be held to ransom by other clubs in this manner. We can't afford to spend £9 million on a player who is going to be demanding £60k's a week in wages anyway. If we are going to fork out £9 million for a player, we may as well go for Cardozo at Benfica who is a far far better striker then Pavel anyway!

I really disagree with you mikey this time, why should we be taken for mugs? his contract is up in November! they will HAVE to sell him, or we can just take him on a free transfer, I agree with Tombo, if we are going to fork out 9 million for a player, we may aswell go the full wack and offer 10m for Cardozo... who i agree, is miles better...

Respect peoples opinions but i am sticking to my guns on this one. Pavel may be a mercenary in the long run but if we do have to sell him on its because he has been very very good - we need quality, Rovers fans everywhere are crying out for it! this guy has it.
