News just in from Ewood is that Irish midfielder Keith Andrews has signed a new four year deal with Blackburn ending specualtion he could leave the club for pastures new.

Keith has gone from Paul Ince horror buy to about as reliable as they come utility player in the space of his first season in the top flight.

This will prbably be the end of Keith in the top division at the end of this deal as he will be 32 and we will have had his best years. Personally I think he is a lot better than given credit for but he does have his weaknesses.

4 years? wow great stuff by Rovers. This guy, look, he wont win us any games, but he wont lose us games either. As a squad utility player, he effectively forced Mokoena out of the team. Andrews is more of the box to box midfielder, and can help out in defence or out wide. Well done to Andrews for earning this new deal

I think this is a good deal for Rovers, he basically wot we had in Savage....but much much better!!! He is willing to play anywhere...as SAS said he aint going to win us many matches BUT unlike most our midfielders last season HE did chip in with 4 goals, not a lot....well he was only there 6mths and played at rite back for a few games, whilst getting used to the faster Premier League...then went onto score Internationally....I think this is a good deal for a very handy..not as bad as folk think... player, but then u could probably have guessed that lol

I am also confident that under Sam he will get better as well! maybe this season he can step up a notch as well?

Andrews proved a lot of doubters wrong last season and if Big Sam is happy enough to give him a new four-year contract who are we to argue?? Congratulations to Andrews, now continue to show us what you can do over these four-years.

A valuable squad / utility player, who shows enthusiasm and commitment - he doesn't complain or make excuses - he deserves credit for forcing his way into the team but is he the midfield maestro that we need? With Grella, Reid, Dunn, Emmerton, Nzonzi and Jacobsen competing, will he be able to secure a regular place in the team? To be fair - we've only seen him in his first season and in a relegation dogfight to boot. Much depends on how he builds on his first season and whether BSA can mould the players into a cohesive team - Andrews might yet become the star we've been waiting for? BSA and others certainly rate him. Here's hoping Andrews continues to prove the doubters wrong.

Good piece of business that. Andrews to peak at 32?

Very reminiscent of Super Atko, underrated, unsung, hardworking team member. Good luck to the lad, he's made his own luck and deserves it.
