Derby Bid For Rovers Youngster Fielding

Derby boss Nigel Clough has made a firm bid for Frank Fielding and is waiting to hear what Sam Allardyce and co. make of the deal.

Double F is held in high regard at Rovers but a bid on the big side for a man of limited experience may prove tempting.

Blackburn legend Brad Friedel was the first to tip Frank for big things.

Fielding has been on a few loans so far in his Rovers career and had another successful one at Rochdale last season.

Clough told the Derby Telegraph - 'We see him as a No.2 and he fits into what we are trying to do - groom some young players,'

'We are just waiting for a decision back from Blackburn.'

If he is as good as people say (Fran Fielding that is) then Rovers should refuse this shouldn't they?

On the other hand do we have too many keepers?

I don't want a total team of foreigners, I like the idea that half the team is comming from our own youth team. But maybe I should have been born 40 years ago *lol*.....cheers

I saw Fielding play quite a lot at Wycombe and he quickly became a favourite with the fans down here in the South. I think the boy has a bright future, and I wouldn't want to see him on anything more permanent than a loan.

Maybe a loan could be the way forward for both here? Frank has done his stint in the lower leagues and now needs a go at Championship level!

"Groom young players"- I wouldnt go there if I was Frank.

I def think Fielding should not be allowed to leave on a permanent basis, i rate him higher than Brown, but i know this is just me...Frank has the potential to be a good keeper....and Derby to be a 'back-up' keeper - he will have better games playing for Rovers reserves!!!

If it is a choice between being Derby number 2 Rovers numer 3/4 then I know what i would wat but maybe that is just me. As long as it is only a loan move then that is cool!

WHY sell Fielding?? If Bradders rated him so highly he must have something about him?? Another loan wouldn't be something I would object to, but why loan him out just to be a back-up?! It sounds like Derby want to buy him, but again only as a back-up?? You're right Mr Mikey confused.com is right!!
