Sam Decides On Zigic??

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is understood to have decided that Nikola Zigic is the striker that he wants to bring to Ewood Park.

Allardyce has been on the lookout for a striker to replace Roque Santa Cruz (even before he left for Manchester City) and this has seen plenty of names mentioned in the newspapers, including Zigic who is now believed to be Big Sam's priority signing??

Newspaper reports understand that Rovers will offer Valencia £6 million for the 28-year-old 6ft 5in Serbian International giant, however, there are no quotes (direct or indirect) from anyone to back up this speculation, so it could be nothing more than newspaper speculation!!

If Sams like him, I belive he is the right guy. If he come I hope he settles down quickly outside the field, so he can do the best on the field...cheers

I just hope e get our man soon so we can crack on! This seems viable and I hope it aint just papers trying to fill column inches!

To be honest, I think there are other stories to fill the pages at the moment Mikey... therefore this could be more than speculation

good point FN1!

I hope this comes off. The proposed fee isn't too much that this deal could be done along with someone more recognised. I'd prefer Janko as he has a better record but I do like the idea of a team full of giants. While I dont think we should aim to win by bullying teams it's nice to know that others wouldn't be able to bully us. I've not seen much of Zigic play and the only thing I'd like to know is whether he has a good work rate.

Zigic would be a good choice.

Nice to see Roberts scoring recently, albeit against minnows. I think the money would be better spent on a creative/defensive midfield player of some stature, but your guess is a good as mine. Viera from under Tottenham's noses perhaps, I can dream but someone like that is what I think we need.It would free up Pedersen to hopefully light a fire under his arse and get good again. NY Rover

I think Viera wages would be a massive problem but I see your point Hendry for sure! This Zigic guy has a lot of clubs after him so we will see how it goes I guess.

I think Sam has a few targets in mind....some lad Hoffer from Austria is a recent one - he is only 22 and valued at £2.5m so this may be the 2nd striker with another yet to bag - one of the following possibly - Zigic would be a great buy, Jones again would be very good for Rovers....im not impressed with this Vieri link ( though am prepared to swallow my pride on this ) Janko still being linked along with Smith ( who i for one would like to see in a Rovers shirt, its not his fault Newcastle are guff ) Gudjonsen again is being mooted at leaving Barca - very good deal there, though wages are the sticking point with him.. so if we got Hoffer for £2.5m Zigic for £6m ( quickly though as Barca are looking Villa ) then we have a good bit of money left for another midfielder and possibly a back up centreback to go with Nelson, Samba and Givet...all in all jobs a gud 'un

your asking for alot of new players clint, and the sad truth about the matter is that we wouldn't be able to afford the wages! Also, i think our first offer will be rejected for zigic and we would have to come in at the 8-10mil mark.... though i feel thats abit too much! and about your creative midfield player (presumably to replace tugay who i felt was gone a couple of seasons back), that is the reason why we have brought in n'zonzi! he is our future playmaker, and i think when he is brought up with the pace of the game and his awareness increases, he will be a good acquistion for big sam
