Allardyce: A Really Good Workout

Blackburn Rovers came away from Cambridge United with a 4-0 win on Tuesday evening much to Sam Allardyce's satisfaction.

Pre-Season kicked off for Rovers and goals from Keith Andrews, El-Hadji Diouf and two from Jason Roberts secured a comfortable win but it was more about the workout for Allardyce who was very pleased with what he saw and was given.

Allardyce told The Official Blackburn Rovers Website: "It was very, very good. It was our first competitive game and we've had a very nice evening.

"It was a really good surface. The groundsman tells me they've just laid it this year, so it was in perfect condition.

"There were four well taken goals and a clean sheet, so it was a really good workout. We are now looking forward to our little trip away.
"

The only drawbacks were a knock to Keith Treacy's ankle and Alex Marrow picking up a slight groin strain.

He added: "There was only a slight knock on Keith Treacy's ankle, so I took him off as a precaution. I don't think it will be too bad. Alex Marrow got a bit of a groin strain in the first half, but apart from that, everyone is fine."

Pre-Season is more about performances and getting match fitness levels right, however, we can be happy with a lot of these boxes being ticked on Tuesday!!

Good to see only minimal injury concerns, That is important as is the fitness. The results are nice but the most important thing is everyone gets some playing time.
