Vieri Impressing Warnock

Stephen Warnock has been the first to voice his happiness that Christian Vieri is with the squad on trial.

Vieri has been in Austria with the boys and has impressed with his skills. Something that Warnock has picked up on with the rest of the boys.

The fitness understandably has been a little behind the rest but this trial is turning into a success despite the reservations of most Rovers fans - myself included.

Stephen Warnock, spoke to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph about Vieri - "Vieri has done very well. He is a fantastic player and his reputation is massive. He has been fantastic, he has shown he is a top player and a top man as well.

"He has gelled with the lads very quickly, we have made him feel right at home, and we are looking forward to seeing him again next week.

"He proved last week at the training camp, he has got the ability to finish out of nowhere and he is a very strong player and very awkward to play against. Hopefully he could be a good addition to the squad.

"I don`t think he is too old to play in the Premier League at all,"

"Vieri will follow on to the next session away, which starts on Wednesday. He will join up with us then, then he will join up with us back here.

"From what the lads said in Austria, he did the work as best he could. Obviously he is way behind the rest of the players and we will be very patient and very supportive to see how long he wants to go to see if he can get to the level he needs to to play in the Premier League.

"If he manages that - what a player. We will decide together, between me and him. However long it takes, we will take as long as it needs to to hopefully get there in the end."

This REALLY could end up being a masterstroke.

Interesting, let see how he will do in some matches. He have something the rest of the strikers don't if he is fit.....cheers

A footballer never loses his touch - he does lose his pace...

I think there is a little way to go yet but I can see one of these pay as you play deals coming in handy!

I never believed he'd actually come for a trial!

I personnaly think this has the faint stink of a Fowler deal about it, although IF he still has the ability he had yrs ago when he was at the top of his game then it mite be ok, he had a cracker shout, he never had bliztering pace anyway from wot i can remember but he is 36....i will reserve judgement on this one if it happens...

Vieri is out. They stay in the Italian medias that he stayed at home in Italy and didn't come to the UK with the boys. Almost excepted unfortunately but we tried :-)
