Andrews Bid Turned Down

Despite acknowledging an official bid, Rovers officals have told Fulham that there approach for midfielder Keith Andrews is not wanted.

They have turned down the bid, whatever it was, flat and have said he is not for sale.

Guess that answers that one then.

He must be in Sam's plans as they have been quick to squash this one.

although initial approach has been rebuffed, i dnt think this one is dead, be interesting to see how quickly we get our striker in, cos sam will then turn his attention elsewhere, dnt be suprised if this one happens right at the end of the transfer window when a certain mr reid and mr dunn have proved their fitness
glen9mullan
I agree with that Glen.. and I hope this deal does happen eventually. 3.5 million for Andrews is an excellent offer and lets face it.. he would'nt be difficult to replace!
spinaker
Apparently word on the street is that no actual bid was made but an approach was recieved!
Mikey D
it totally depends on the offer. if it's above 2.5m, it's worth it.
dominator2800
Absolutely... I read on here that it was a 3.5million offer... but if thats not the case as Mikey says and it was only an approach.. I would still hear Fulham out at the very least. This guy is not worth hanging on to in my opinion!!
spinaker
I don't know about that Spinaker - his goals saved us points last season and kept us up! He showed more passion than a lot of the other players as well. I wouldn't be quick to get rid of him as he can play in different positions. If we received a big offer (ie over 3mill) then it makes financial sense, but I wouldn't mind him staying.

I am still undecided. If as reported that Fulham are prepared to offer 3.5 million then I would say take it.

He maybe isnt the biggest name on the books at Rovers BUT on performances levels last yr i would put him up as the best in the team.... Dunn has done nothing of note last season, I really like Reid but Andrews has played more games from Jan than Reid has in 3 seasons ( not an offical stat lol ) He played at rite back and everything last yr, would Dunn do this?? I think we should keep him simply because he's not the best in the world, but he's not cr*p either...most of all he gives his all for a team that he seems to want to play for.....
Clint
Hard to say in which direction Keith will develope. It was his 1st season in the premier league, and only half of the season trained by Sam. Now he knows the premier league and if Sam and he connect the right way......there might be some very good potential. If we get a new one in he has to learn the team, coach and maybe premier league as well.....cheers
riisenholt
If we don't need to sell why should we. Obviously Big Sam rates Andrews as do other Premier League managers, who can't all be wrong!!
Walker
He is a good utility player and a hard tackler - he lacks flair, but he's not scared to break away and try to grab a goal. I think if we keep him next season he will be playing with more confidence.
FreidelNo.1
very true Walker! Both Roy and Sam rate him so he cant be that bad!!!
Mikey D
Agree with glen9mullan - for a decent offer Andrews departure could be a valuable boost the transfer funds. With Jacobsen, Emmerton, Reid, Grella Warnock, MGP and Dunn, both midfield and right back positions have cover. Interesting how the opinion is split on Andrews - guilt by association with Ince? R of Ireland, Roy Hodgson and BSA clearly rate him though. Andrews certainly gives commitment and effort but I just can't see him making a first team place his own.
YORK ROVER
ANdrews is the type of player every club needs (apart from the big 4 I guess). Somebody who just plugs away, does what is needed, and then turns up next week and goes again. He works hard, chips in well. He will never turn a game on its head by his magic, but at least we no we have somebody there to rely on when needed.
sasman
I agree with SASMAN.....dont see what the point of letting him go would be. We've made a shed load of money this transfer window anyway and we would only have to replace him because losing him would leave us with only 4 central midfielders, 3 whom are injury prone and 1 who is an untried, untested U21!! Anyone who we did sign would cost more and would need to be intergrated in to the team.....keep him, he is a more than efficient squad man!!!!!!!!

He turned that West Brom game round well though Sas! Great goal that was!
