The 10 Point Plan

With the 2009-2010 episode of the EPL only a matter of weeks away, excitement is slowly building. A season just passed, one to forget rather then remember, but a season to look forward to, we hope.....

Blackburn will be dissapointed on the whole on what happened last season, but by taking a deep look at our team, its the small things which can really decide how we will go this season. Below is what I think our 10 point plan for 09/10 will be.....

1) Player Fitness.

Too many injuries to key players dogged us all season. We dont have the biggest of squads, and the long injuries really affected us. Many werent happy with the Ince regime in terms of Player Fitness and rehabilitation methods, whether it was a coincidence we had so many injuries and players never looked fit, who knows. We welcome back David Dunn, Steven Reid and the one and only, Brett Emerton, three players who can walk straight into our starting team.

2)15+ goal Striker.

Bellamy Did it. Benni Followed, then Roque did it once again, however, last year, we failed. Allardyce needs to find a striker who will score us 15 goals. If Benni and JR can also chip in with 15 between them, and Gamst and our other midfielders can score 10 between them, then thats 40 goals to get us going....

3)Ryan Nelsen/Chris Samba

As solid as the combination is, we need them to step it up a gear. Nothing silly, nothing random, do the job, and we will be fine

4) Vince Grella

Needs to step up and convince the faithful that the 4 million was well spent. If he can hold that midfield and dominate like he has throughout his career, it will allow Dunn and Gamst to push on forward and threaten.

5) Set Plays

We didnt score anywhere near enough goals from all the set plays we had. Direct Free Kicks, Crossed Free Kicks, Corners, Throw ins, we had so many opportunities that were wasted, time to get it right Sam

6) Fortress Ewood.

What a sight it was to see the faithful turn up in packs to the last few games. THis needs to be continued, the players love it and the results will follow, lets turn Ewood Park back into the Fortress it was

7) Tactics

We need to get them right. We looked all over the place last season, Im sure Sam will lay down the law, but the lads need to turn up and play to the tactics. Sam has pulled of many big upsets over his time, and I am sure he knows what he is doing

8) The Easy Games....

How many times do we turn up against teams we are expected to beat, and fail....Attitude must change, as these 10-15 points we drop each season will determine where we finish

9) Discipline!!!!

Last season was the first in many that we didnt finish bottom of the Fair Play League, lets keep improving.....

10) The Lancashire Derby...

The Dingles have arrived, and we need to welcome them with 2 beatings of a life time. I think the Derby game is important for all involved. 2 Solid wins against Burnely will create a positive atmosphere in the area, with a flow on affect bringing more Rovers to the ground...

10 things, we get them done, and we might be surging back up that table....

Well done Sas and spot on with everyhting you say! especially the fortress Ewood thing as well. Allardyce has always been a home bird so this will be a big thing this season. Go Rovers!

Midfield score 10 goals? You're living in Wonderland?!!!!
Money4midfield
Agreed on your points Sas - and the midfield do need to be scoring a hell of a lot more goals.

Andrews was our highest scoring midfielder last season with the huge tally of 3. That really needs to improve.
durks de rover
lol, 10 goals from about 6 different players in midfield should be a minimum, too bad we cant accomplish that lol
sasman
we should be able to pull that many goals out from the midfield. Andrews 3, Warnock 3, Pedersen 1, Diouf 1, Dunn 1 (would of been a lot higher if fit), Tugay 2. Thats 11 right there.

Some great points in this article. Fitness definitely belongs at #1. A healthy squad with backups allows substitutions for strategy and conservation. We have the luxury of several quality players with the versatility to play multiple positions--Warnock, Emerton, Samba, Diouf, Andrews. Keeping the boys healthy gives BFS the fullest quiver for applying tactics. The goals will follow.
