Jones The Man For Rovers As Sunderland Get Bent?

Blackburn Rovers are closing in on the signing of Kenwyne Jones according to various news sources, with Sunderland only waiting to secure a striker themselves before letting Jones leave.

Jones had been refused a move to Spurs back in january for a fee as large as £14 million but Sunderland are now believed to be wanting only £9 million - instantly making him in sight for the Blue and White Army.

Word coming out as well is that Sam has made an enquiry and has been told to drop his pursuit of another target Darren Bent and let Sunderland win that particular pursuit, which would then make the signing of Jones easier.

I personally would be all in favor of this as Kenwyne is a top draw player who can score goals. He also fits the leading the line target man that Sam craves.

It is only an initial report but this one sounds a bit more concrete than some of the other rubbish being bandied round the media.

I would rather see that money spent on bent than jones personally. Jones doesn't score enough goals for me, he is a glorified Roberts.
roversman
Exactly right roversman, Bent scores goals for fun but it is unlikely Bent will be allowed to leave Spurs unless a replacement is lined up.

arghhhhh Bommy told me about this 24 hours ago, but didnt want me to post about it yet grrr the other sites beat us to it...darn you bommy lol next time we get something, we shall jump on it straight away!!! vital blackburn would of been first to break it... vital blackburn exclusive, bom is pregnant.....
sasman
Thats not an exclusive Sas! He's been pregnant for about 6 years!!! its called beer! lol. I personally ould prefer Jones as he is that target that Sam WILL want.

Any statistic on this jones guy?, I have only heard his name mentioned. Darren Bent I know and like, but maybe Jones is the target guy Sam wants don't know...cheers
riisenholt
Just found some information on him, but why would he leave when back in january got a new contact for 4,5 years? Strange but things change fast in football....still like bent better but I see but Sam might like about him....cheers
riisenholt
Jones is def a stronger striker.....though Bent would score more goals....with the strikers we have at the club already ( those that have survived the summer...so far ) i personally think Bent would work best but im sure he may be dearer, so would Jones and another be the better option for us?? Jones is a very good player after all....
Clint
ha ha i broke this last week, beat you all to it lol, but seriously jones is the right age, a big target man and would suit rovers to a t

I thought Spurs were in for Jones? Harry was making a lot of noise about what triffic player he is. Cant see us signing him or bent tbh.
durks de rover
Harry has got his fingers in other pies, so to speak. We wont move for Jones until Crouch AND Bent have gone to the Makems, even then we mightve moved on to another target. there has been at least 8-12 strikers enquired about and Rovers are now realising that they have to spend top, top money (practically ALL of our budget) on a front man to get the players they want. Crucial times ahead guys. Oh and for the record, there are still concerns over Reid's knee, even though he is back training!!!!
BomBom
Bom - you are the man of knowledge! lol. And if that is what it takes to get our man then thats the way it shall be!
Mikey D
Personally I'd be happy with either of these players but wouldn't expect us to pay anymore than £8 million at the most for either (if we even paid that much??) Jones has the qualities of a target man that Big Sam would like but Bent will score more goals, however, Jones would also score some. If Big Sam could tempt either of these to Rovers I'd not be unhappy at all, however, it'll probably prove to be nothing more than speculation for both anyway!!
