No Rovers Approach For Crouch

Blackburn Rover manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that Rovers haven't made an approach for Peter Crouch despite speculation saying otherwise.

Allardyce would be interested in signing Crouch but has confirmed that no approach has been made for the striker and even if Portsmouth were selling Crouch Rovers couldn't afford him and Allardyce also feels that he'd be looking to go to a bigger club.

Allardyce told Sky Sports: "We think he is probably out of our reach and bigger clubs than Blackburn will take him if Portsmouth decide they are going to sell him.

"No-one has said to me from Portsmouth that he is for sale so we haven't done anything from that point of view.
"

Don't undersell Rovers Big Sam! Maybe we're not a massive club like some but are Fulham or Sunderland (despite a greater wealth) really that much bigger than us?!?! Both of these Premier League clubs are understood to be interested. We couldn't afford the England International's wages, however, this doesn't mean that Crouch wouldn't sign for us!!!

flipping heck Daryl! your motoring away with the news today! Crouch would defintely sign for us but there will be plenty in for him if he was to be made available.

You're not getting Crouch because he's not leaving Pompey - forget about it.

Pompey fan much?

We're not getting Crouch because I genuinely don't think he has the talent to lead the line on his own. He's just really tall with a good touch. He isn't physically strong enough - i.e. a poor man's Carew etc

I think we might end up going for Darren Bent now? Thats what the media are getting in on!

I ilke Crouch but again his price tag is very much inflated for wot he actually gives to a team...I dont think he is the type of stiker that we need as for his height he's not great in the air, we have Benni who has the movement ( when he can be ar*sed ) and Jason as a battering ram, we need speed......Crouch = SLOW AR*E - I would like a speedy younger striker and maybe an older target man, one who has learnt all the tricks in the book!!!!
