Vieri Due For A Trial At Rovers

Once the player who commanded the highest fee in Europe, Italian striker Christian Vieri, is to have a trial at Blackburn so Sam Allardyce can have a look at him and assess whether he would be worth offering a short term deal to.

Vieri is well past his peak but Rovers boss Allardyce must feel he can get something from having a look at him - hence the trial.

These are initial reports and they are from Gazetto in Italy as well so take them with a pinch of salt but maybe this might trail might happen.

But what can we get from a 35 year old striker who is way past his best... if anyone can, Big Sam can.

I personally am not mad keen on this but I suppose there is no harm in taking a look I guess?

it did say monday that he was meeting up at the training camp in austria in view to securing a one year deal but with also the possibility of him joining the coaching staff

You might be right afterall glen, but I don't hope so... cheers

A little worried but I suppose, (if he's fit) he does provide an experienced option - ie to cover the Samba scenario. The young Hoillet and Paul Gallagher look more promising bets on which to build for the future? A player coach option for Vieri might be worth considering to get his experience? No doubt Big Sam knows what he's doing.

Cue the long balls!! This reeks of Sam's old style of play of humping the ball up to the big, cumbersome front man, ala Kevin Davies!! I don't want to be too negative, but with Dunny, Reidy etc.. we are far better than a long ball team...
Wellsy
We are wellsy you are right mate - bit cynical though!

who knows whats happening here, a trial aint bad, and im sure with all these young strikers coming through or being signed they will need a striker coaching them, might be a smart piece of business, he could play in cup games resting our main strikers, and train our youth

hmm, Robbie Fowler mark II?

I think Sam knows what he is doing and it costs him nothing to bring him in for a trial, we wont commit until certain, surely?!
