Sam Still Waiting For Di Santo

Blackburn Rovers are still waiting to find out what is happening with a possible loan move to Ewood Park on Chelsea's Franco Di Santo.

Rovers were understood to have virtually agreed a deal, however, Sam Allardyce isn't sure what's happening now as the Argentine is going to the United States of America with Chelsea for their pre-season tour but Allardyce would still be interested.

Allardyce told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I don't know what the situation is with Di Santo so I'm not particularly clear on what's been talked about there.

"I would have thought Ancelotti would be looking at all of his players first before making a decision on whether he's letting anyone go.

"But obviously we would be interested in anyone from Chelsea if they were the right price for us.
"

Personally if it was me I'd be moving on to other targets and forgetting about this one. However, if we can't sign anyone else between now and the time Carlo Ancelotti decides what his plans are for Di Santo we could revisit this. We can't just wait for Chelsea to decide what they're doing with the striker though can we, however, I'm certain this isn't what Big Sam is doing anyway!!!

Meanwhile Rovers have given up on Kevin Davies and it's understood that Christian Vieri isn't joining us for pre-season.

Big Sam has been interested in re-signing Davies from Bolton Wanderers but revealed on Sunday that John Williams had been in touch with Bolton and they told him that the 31-year-old wasn't for sale so Davies isn't returning to Ewood. 35-year-old Vieri was subject of speculation linking him to Rovers on Sunday, however, the former Italian International isn't linking up with Rovers after being released by Atalanta.

Chaps it'll depend upon whether we sign any forwards, that is apart from the impending return of the great Sheva :-(

i dont think we should be waiting on him, he meant to be good and all but if we hang about we could still miss out on him when Carlo looks at he team, we runthe risk of losing out on any back up plans, granted we would prob have to buy then but we dont want to be left with the guff.....

You can't wait for Chelsea, those ****s will keep him just to spite you and as for the OAP's I suppose they come cheap but at 35 not much to offer.

I think we should move onto someone else. Yes I rate him but can we afford just to wait for them to make the call? Our own pre-season buld up would be hindered waiting for Chelsea.

I read a few weeks ago that Chelsea were going to take him on pre-season and decide after that if he was going to come on loan to us - we shouldn't wait as we could be a striker short - maybe a January thing. Shevchenko on loan could be good...

FriedelNo.1 --- I'd actually love it if Sheva went on loan to you. Particularly if he managed to rekindle his career. He's not past it, just needs the opportunity.

Personally I don't think he's a bad player - he can score goals, he may not be the fastest, but I think at rovers he wouldn't have the pressure that went along with Chelsea - and if he didn't work out we'd just return him. Also, he didn't have a good time under Jose M - who tried to destroy his confidence! Not the best of situations!
