Oscar To Replace Roque?

Blackburn Rovers are understood to be interested in replacing Roque Santa Cruz with his International strike partner Oscar Cardozo.

Newspaper reports are saying that the 26-year-old Benfica striker is was on Sam Allardyce's hit list when in charge at Bolton Wanderers and following (FINALLY) the departure of Santa Cruz to Manchester City this week the Rovers manager could now turn his attentions to the free scoring Paraguayan.

Benfica are understood to be reluctantly letting the striker go but are also understood to be asking for £6 million and that isn't a price that Rovers are thought to be willing to match (personally I don't think that's a bad price) so if Cardozo is to come to Ewood Park we'll need to do some negotiations over the asking price of the Paraguayan International.

I've seen him play before and for £6 million that looks like an absolute frigging steal - he is a bull with pace that can shoot accurately! If this is true he should really look into this.

He is tall, young and can score goals - in Portugal. £6 mill is a lot for an untried striker in the Premier League - more games, faster pace, less opportunities to score... but he could be good - thats the gamble we take with any new signing I suppose.

at least its someone different being linked, and he has had to carry the mantle for paraquay while cruz has been injured and not done a bad job either

If Sam has had an eye on him since being at Bolton, he must be able to do some good stuff. Mccarthy is also leaving it seems, like to hear that, he is over the hill at blackburn. Oscar, Robert, Gallacher and maybe the guy from Chelsea, then we are ok I think, cheers

What happened to our policy of taking people on trial before signing them - is that still happeneing? I also heard that Di Santo will sign for a year's loan after pre-season - I'd be a bit worried about leaving it too late to sign a striker if we're gonna lose Benni as well.

how accurate are the reports that benni is leaving?
dominator2800
The sooner we get in a decent striker the better in my eyes. We're horribly short on firepower at the moment whether Benni leaves or not.

Benni wont go - we arent silly enough to let 3 go without finding replacements!!!!!
