Who Do You Want To See Rovers Buy And Why?

Who do you want to see rovers buy and why? Realistic targets!

I'd just like to find out what people think about transfers this year who should come in. Maybe we could all write out Rovers' new starting 11 for next year? Be interesting to see what we all think?

It's a good idea scottrover, maybe this could be a forum thread like the VBer Premier League XI and then it spills over as articles perhaps?!?!

Good shout this Scott and something I had been thinking of doing you thieving sod! lol.... This is ideal for me anyway - I think we should get this Di Santo lad in on loan as young legs up front are a bonus, I feel we need a central midfielder as creativity will only come from Dave Dunn and he is injured all the time. Someone like Robert Koren from West Brom or Joe Ledley from Cardiff would fit our budget wage wise and provide a spark. Defensively I feel we need cover for right back (Brett first choice) so I would take someone like Alan Hutton from Spurs or maybe get Habib Beye from relegated Newcastle...

Assuming we don't lose any more I reckon we need 3-4 more players. Would like to see Janko (Red Bull) & Berg (Swedish U21) come in, probably be around £10m combined. Benni & JR aren't getting any younger and these guys are under 25 and good. Would also like to see a new CM, maybe Delph (Leeds) £4m and a bit of pace on the wing. Sanchez (Udinese) but his price has gone up quite a lot or Pedro Leon (Valladolid)...not cheap but our team has looked very slow over the last few years, people defend from the 1/2 way line cause we can't outpace centre backs! Egyptian Al Muhammadi (RB or RM) looked good in Confed Cup and has been on trial with us, under Ince reign of terror.

i think we need proven premiership players, i see alot of unknown names there fat elvis and maybe too much of a gamble? owen gudjohnson di santo nolan bentley kewell al muhammadi hutton just a few id look at obviously cany buy them all but worth a look id say
25/06/2009 10:04:00
At the moment I would just settle for someone who can put the ball in the net!! I see the times have suggested that Benni is now up for sale - at this rate we'll be starting with Andrews up front!!
25/06/2009 10:12:00
Yeah I suggested foreign players on the basis that UK ones cost way too much. Would of course like Owen & Crouch 1st choice. As for creative mid & speedy winger; I can't think of a single player in our price range that plays in the prem or championship (bar Delph who is a youngster), maybe Ledley although he'll be £4m as well. Also thinking we have the basis of a top 10 side and new comers can be brought in over the 1st few months....although if we lose Benni that could be a prob! Just JR up front???
25/06/2009 10:36:00
i would honestly settle if we sign a few random players, and 1 proven player in gudjohnsen. We really missed Brett and he should be ready for seasons start, and dunny and reid, well who knows. Surely Sam can sign some back up in central defence, and a rightback
25/06/2009 12:18:00
I like Ramires from Brazil, he might be too expensive but he is still 22 year old and still in brazil. So I see a possiblity there, besides that di santo, robert, gallacher and oscar upfront. That is enough in my eyes, cheers

i would love to see Michael Bradley at Rovers, him and Grella would be good together and he has shown he can work against some of the best players in a weak, but hard working team!!! Fernandez at Villareal would be brilliant on the left, though i would love to see John Fleck from Rangers, he's going to be a star and Rangers are skint, Civelli from Marseille can play at rite/centreback, can Emerton out and would be good buy, Gudjohnsen for me is a must for Rovers, vision, goals etc I think we need a decent enough back up keeper, to keep pushing Robinson, someone like - Fielding being promoted or buying in Hart, though i doubt he'd be back up to anyone..Givet is coming in so left/centreback is covered..have to see this wee South African play for the rite, though we have been linked to this Egyptian lad, though i would love to see Kightley, though Wolves would never sell now there up!! I would get rid of Benni as well, he has never played well since he wasnt the star man...this Swedish u21 lad looks good as too does Cardoza...I wish more of the players were british but hey, they cost silly money...
25/06/2009 13:06:00
I would like to see us buy an established right back and I am a big fan of Rafinha from Shalke. We also need to replace Santa Cruz and I do like Cardozo who we were linked with today. Crouch would be a good signing, but I think 11m is too much for him, I would pay no more than 9m. John Fleck is an emerging talent, but I can't see us getting him. As soon as we try the bigger clubs will be in there like a shot.
