A Sad Day As Matty Confirms Greek Switch

Olympiakos have completed the signing of Blackburn striker Matt Derbyshire.

Derbyshire had a quick medical (unlike that traitor) and was confirmed as a signing late last night.

Matty has signed a four year deal. The transfer fee is believed to be £3.5 million with heavy future fees included in the deal - most important of all being a sell on fee.

Derbyshire, a Blackburn fan has wanted this move since coming back from Greece in May as he knows he will get more first team action at OLympiacos, having spent the latter part of last season on loan with the Greek giants.

Derbsyhire, speaking to Sky Sports - 'I am very happy with this transfer. I wanted to stay at Olympiakos,'

'I hope to improve myself and become much better next season. I want to score more goals with Olympiakos.

'I am looking forward to going to Austria for the pre-season, it's fantastic the feeling for me.

'I will try my best to help Olympiakos. With hard work and I hope to succeed.'

Most people will know my feelings on this one. This is a mistake in my eyes, Derbyshire shows true commitment and always bangs in the goals at a regular rate - Olympiacos have got one hell of a signing.

However, he leaves with my blessing unlike that sneaky judas who left on Monday.

Good luck Matty, you'll always be a favourite in our eyes at Ewood.

I am very disappointed with this - I hope they included a buy-back clause. Not only is he an up and coming prospect, he's one of us and wants to play for us! What more could you want. However, thinking with my head and not my heart, I'm sure Matt wants more than anything to play regularly, so good luck to him and I hope he wins a shed load of trophies.

Good luck Matty, you'll always be a Rover!

Looks like Gallagher is getting a chance up front in the pre-season games, very nice move of Sam, now he let Debs go. Hoping he he will take his chance....cheers

silly move at this point, if he spends 3.5 million on someone better then all will be forgotten, problem is 5 million dnt buy you a championship player these days, one player who is available for free is morientes, and before anyone says he wasnt a success at liverpool, he did ok and has done even better sionce leaving, this is a sam type of player i.e okocha dyorkaeff

I cant see that Glen, if it happens then great but I cant see it! I have been wrong before though ;)

Can't see how we will find anyone as good for the 3 million we got for him - I'm guessing he wasn't on the biggest wage either. Bad bit of business on rovers part. Given the games, he'll be a future England star - he's already shown he can produce the goods at under-21 level. Very sad.

Blue i totally agree with you - his move must have meant that either Sam has another target in mind and Matt was told that he wouldnt be the natural 1st choice up front - hopefully we have some good players in mind but can WE replace Derbyshires' raw talent with another player for only £3m..maybe we have the natural replacement already at the club in Gallagher or Rigters ( im not sure if he's gone or not lol ) but I for one dont understand this move, yes we could have loaned him out for the whole of next season and brought him back after, but to sell someone of his potential - to me - is not wot this club should be about!! Maybe he wasnt as good as I think he is, as he NEVER nailed down a proper 1st team position but he will play for England sooner or later and he's a natural goalscorer!! For a team with not a lot of money and you have players like Downing, who in my opinion is cr*p and no where near the talent of Matty, being touted for £12m+ Rovers as i said should just have loaned him out... they would have got at least £1m loan fee, with the potential to, if they wanted, cash in later....

It's a mistake we shouldn't have let Derbs go but as previously stated Big Sam in the manager and JW the chairman so I'll trust their judgement and back their decision (even if I don't agree and think it's wrong lol!)

When u see that Roger "WHO" Johnson has signed for £5m for Birmingham from Cardiff, its just shows you wot a fu*king great deal the greeks got when signing Matt.....we was robbed!!!!
