Rovers Offer Rothen A Three-Year Deal?

Rovers Offer Rothen A Three-Year Deal?

Reports in France understand that Blackburn Rovers have offered Jerome Rothen a contract to come to Ewood Park.

The Paris Saint Germain winger wanted to end his career with the French club but it's understood that PSG have told Rothen that he's free to leave the Pac des Princes and this has seen him most strongly connected with a move to Rovers or Espanyol, however, others are also understood to be interested.

French Radio station RMC has announced that Sam Allardyce is a big fan of the former French International and a three-year contract is being drawn up that could see Rothen complete a move to Rovers in the next few days?!?!

AFAIK, no contract has been offered. Rovers are very interested but it all hinges on PSG letting Rothen leave on a free transfer.

Im not sure if this will happen, would be a good signing though. I think switch him to a central role, maybe a bit too much of a luxery player..

Allardyce isn't my favourite manager. Strike that. I hate Allardyce as a manager. But he is good at one thing I will concede; He can find players who are towards the end of a stable career at a European club -- and give them a glorious swansong in the Premiership. If Allardyce likes this bloke it's probably a good capture...

This seems like a good bet to me, a cultured player who can create on the ball - get him in if its true and he's free.

i cant understand why...he wasnt in that much of a demand in his prime, has he ever played outside France!?! he's too old for my liking, his wages would prob be too high as well, if i think of any other reason i'll drop by again lol

lol Clint... have you seen him play? I have seen him a couple of times and he looks very elegant and has a good technical ability. If Sam feels he can work with him then happy days...

it may well the case, but i just think we shouldnt be buying players of his age, i know Sam can and has prolonged careers BUT this one i just dont see...i hope im proved wrong though and IF he joins he's a success...im just thinking wot happened to the supposed quote that Sam wanted 'young, dynamic players' these could be players with a potential sell on fee, not ones at the end of their careers........

I have a feeling this guys wages will be quite high.. and hes a bit too old for my liking, maybe we would be better moving for someone more proven in the prem.

It reminds me of a certain Javier De Pedro deal back in the days....a quality midfielder in his days...but is passed it.

Positive Signs For Bennett

Bennett was positive of Blackburn being able to see off Lancashire rivals Preston heading into this game at Ewood Park after the Norwich and Fulham results.

Minor Graham Setback

Blackburn had to do without Danny Graham against Preston following the groin problem that forced him off against Fulham last week. He could return against Brighton next week.

Hugely Frustrating

Mowbray admitted Blackburn didn't start the game well against Preston but had then been the dominant side so was 'majorly disappointed' not to record a victory.
