Allardyce Wants Kevin Davies For Rovers!!!

It has emerged that Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is going to test Bolton Wanderers resolve in an attempt to bring Kevin Davies back to Ewood Park.

Allardyce, with a pretty healthy transfer kitty has identified Davies as the answer to Rovers striking problems. He is currently Rovers first choice to replace the recently departerd Roque Santa Cruz.

Bolton will more than likely be unimpressed by their former charge attempting to take Davies and will probably ask for a hefty sum. However as Allardyce is keen, it is possible that there is something that he knows that we currently do not with regards to Davies' situation at Bolton.

Undoubtedly there will be some contrasting views over this idea, with Davies' prior spell at Rovers but it is worth noting that he is the best English player of his style - a big, honest target man and has been very close to a few England Squads recently, under Capello.

This potential transfer does not preclude Di Santo and intimates that Allardyce is considering 2 front players next season or that he could use Davies 'wide' in a 4-3-3 in the way Bolton often do.

You heard it here first folks!

This window gets weirder! This will be a contentious signing if its pulled off but the Davies playing for Bolton is a totally different player than the one that played under Brian Kidd and the relegated Rovers team of 1999. Interesting.

NOOOO. Dont want him... waste of space...
rover23
where has this come from? not heard anything about this at all.. therefore im writing it all off! he would cost about 8 mil, would be a waaaaaaaaaste of money!
Blue n Whitey
It will be in the People in the morning! You havent heard anything because Rovers havent made a move....yet. This is Sam's first choice replacement!
BomBom
..... and buy Grabbi who can play on the left.....? DO ME A FAVOUR.

I can understand the resistance to this, I am hesitant myself but for the right price, you cannot deny this would b a good buy. No more than 2 million and i'd be relatively happy.
BomBom
been ripped off once before with him and i would not go watch them again if davies is signed, this is a complete joke and not what i or most genuine roversw fans would welcome
glen9mullan
i cant see this being true, BUT he did have a great season last year BUT we dont need him, we have roberts they arnt much difference.. sooner have roberts too, please keep away big sam!
scottrover
2 mill lol looking more like 5 mill.... How old is he anyway....Sas is not happy

If you appoint a manager like Allardyce this is the sort of transfer target you can expect...

Bet youre looking forward to some elegant, technical football being played at Ewood next year....

Bom is right in that he is a totally different player now to when he was with us 10 years ago... but it would be crazy to resign him when he was such a spectacular flop the last time around... and for 5million???.. Thanks but no thanks!!!

This is just mental for so many reasons - but I agree with Bom, this would be an effective signing for thr right price. But I just can't see it....

5million, 32 years of age - quoted in the mirror today. would that make 3 thirty somethings up front? (Benni, Roberts and Davies?) Our foul play league status will be guarateed aswell! Most fouled and most fouling player in the league - consistantly!

Aside from that - do you really think he'd want to return to us? Is he happy with his recent form or has he got something to prove? Most feeling would be he'll stay put where he's much liked.
FreidelNo.1
I think we'll be going someone with at least some re-sale value... at 32 Kev does not have that.
Mikey D
The move everyone feared when he joined. I do NOT want to see "Allardyce style players" coming in. No to Davies, Nolan et al.
Money4midfield
i would personally try for Gudjohnson instead, as he's younger, would prob score the same number of goals ( neither are prolific ) and is a bit more of the creative player we need....i do think we could get him cheaper from Barca as well, the only thing may be his wages
Clint
Gudjohnsen is a Roque replacement in my eyes. I would snap him up if his wages werent to high and he would be prepared to work with Sam again.
Mikey D
I'm also in for Gudjohnson, but please stay alway from Davies, I do remember the last time we tried him it wasn't a succes. Cheers
