Rovers Accept City Offer For Santa Cruz

News just in that Rovers have accepted a bid in the region of 16 million + add ons for Roque Santa Cruz from long term admirers Manchester City.

Cruz has been begging for a move since January and he now looks likely to get it.

I think we will all be glad when this is over and done with and we can get on with our lives as normal...

Is the "thank god" statement relief that he's gone or that you got the exclusive?

15m for Bentley, 16m for RSC. Your chairman MUST be the greatest negotiator in the hisyory of the premier league. Any idea where money's getting spent?

I think he is actually an English hitler. John Williams is a great chairman. The money will be spent more than likely on 2 strikers, a midfielder and maybe a right back - Sam will have to make it stretch.

At Bolton Sam was at his best wheelin' and dealin'. He buys people who are considered unfashionable and combines them superbly. However 18m could buy 4 good players or 2 great players, I'd be tempted to go for the latter though because it's your special players which make all the difference at this level IMO. I thought Givet was a right back who was forced to play in the centre when Samba moved up front?

Hes a left back/centre back Phartman... and a very good one at that as well.

i think people are still giving him a benefit of a doubt from last season, he could very well turn into a bust due to injuries or other reasons. finding 2 strikers is now our priority, followed by a attacking midfielder and right back as mentioned.

Rovers, I've been lobbying at Vital Man City for Hughes not to buy Santa Cruz because of his fitness record. Do you seriously think he has been "exaggerating" the effects of the injury a little? Or is he crocked? I know time will tell very soon but I'd appreciate an honest opinion from Blackburn fans...

I think its a bit of both Sindbad. THe guy is quality, dont get me wrong, but even when he was in his peak season with us, I had questions, which i continuously pointed out with a lot of ridicule returned.... Roque is an aerial target man. Put the ball at his head, the ball goes in the net. However, he cant score with his feet, he missed several one on ones, and only scored 1 from outside/around the box from memory. Great target man, but will need Robinho roving around him for maximum effect. I think we definately got the better end of the deal here

I do think he hammed up his injuries this season and the fact remains that Hughes is the only man to ever get a full season out of him so thats a positive for the City fans. Great signing for you guys provided he stays fit but he has only ever done that for one season. I think Sas is a little hard on him he scored a few with his feet, one against united too. But 18 million is too much to turn down and once again Williams proves he knows what he is doing at the negociating table.

Don't count your chickens just yet Rovers fans! Crocky will be subjected to a more stringent medical than your average hillbilly receives when kidnapped by aliens, so if anything turns up you will be welcoming him back shortly.

He'll pass the medical!!! He was fit from around the middle of April but was too busy pickin his toys up from around his pram after not gettin his move to bother playin for us.....I'm with SAS on this one..Aerial ability is without a doubt World Class but i was never confident of him scorin when he went thru one on one. He looked better because he played next to Roberts who rarely strikes a ball true and usually "shins" it in!!!! ha ha Great business for us..18mil for a player who cost us 3.4 mil and had one good season before being injured!!! Just have to give BSA the dough to bulk up the firepower!!

Hope this goes through! Fed up the same old boring stories from the press - run a story for long enough and it's bound to come true eventually! Wonder who Sam has lined up for his replacement? If the deal goes through I wouldn't be surprised if the new signing isn't revealed soon - can't believe that Sam would let both RSC and Matt Derbyshire go without a plan in place.

I saw this flashed up on Sky Sports news then nothing... however, then all attention turned to Tevez... could it be that City want Tevez and Santa second? And that they won't spend out on both?
