The Big Man's In For De La Pena

Blackburn are in the hunt to land Spanish star Ivan de la Pena, this is according to many media sources and the players agent.

We reported yesterday that there was some gossip that De La Pena was on the Big One's radar and this has firmed up this morning.

The Espanyol midfielder has had a new lease of life at Espanyol and wants a move to reflect his new form.

De la Pena is out-of-contract this summer and did initially want to stay at Espanyol but looks unlikely to be given the length of contract and salary he wants so he has been forced to look elsewhere.

Blackburn have now stepped in and made a firm enquiry.

The players agent, speaking to the Daily Star said - 'I am dealing with some very important offers for Ivan, one of them from Blackburn,'

'There have also been bids from Spartak Moscow, from Greece and the UAE.

'Ivan wants to be the best paid player at Espanyol, this recognise his ability but his salary does not reflect this.'

Whether we can offer him the terms he wants is questionable but there is no doubting his ability. Watch this space...

This is just his agent trying to squeeze a few more Euros from Espanyol in his new contract I think. Personally I think he probably would make a good signing, but at his stage in life and career is uprooting and moving to another country really what he wants?!?! I don't think so.
Walker
i dont think we should sign him at all - he's wot 34? i think at the min all we need is the creative influence in midfield, although if we kept Dunn fit he could provide it.. Ivan is not the answer im sorry... i like the lad Bradley that we were linked to last yr, i know he's only at his club for the last yr, but he looks handy and meant to score goals from midfield, something that is glareingly missing from Rovers and makes our play predictable....
