Franco Di Santo To Blackburn?

It has been revealed today that young Chelsea striker Franco Di Santo may well be joining Blackburn Rovers on a year long loan deal.

Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has first refusal on Di Santo.

The Russian backed club are prepared to let the 6ft 4in Argentinean go on a one-year loan to get Premier League experience.

Chelsea signed Di Santo, a member of the Argentina under-20 side, from Chilean side Audax Italiano a year ago, ironically, the same side that our own fallen Chilean hero, Carlos Kickaball (Villanueva) was loaned from.

Allardyce hopes Di Santo is a done deal but Chelsea's new boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to see him train and play before deciding if he can go on loan, so the move is on ice until mid-July.

It is also rumoured that Ince was an admirer of Di Santo and after he had signed for Chelsea last summer, as he knew Di Santo's agent, asked if he could find someone similar to Franco and recommended Carlos.

There are numerous clubs over the European continent interested in Di Santo with Spanish side Espanyol interested and allegedly, his agents have also been having discussions with Everton and Middlesbrough but Rovers have the first refusal.

Blackburn have a top level agreement with the Chelsea hierarchy that any loan deal will be with them. Rovers have had to agree with Chelsea that di Santo WILL play.

The player will go where he is told apparently. His agent is employed by Chelsea, so there is no great problem there.

It is worth noting also that Franco Di Santo is in the Chelsea first team squad and has played under Hiddink and Scolari.

In that superstar team he has been handed the number 9 shirt and has already received rave reviews from people within the camp.

Bom, back with a bang, catch me while you can!

COuld be a good replacement for Derbs, my worry is that there is no "with a view to buy" deal in place. I stress however that Di Santo is NOT Roque's replacement but in addition to another striker coming in, however that is pending on the RSC cash.

Well, we are NOT looking to sell him. He's the next Crespo, so we may be loaning him STRICTLY to let him get experience. Cheerio. He's a great talent, though.

u will just play him dats it....he is gud in air.....can improve....i have watched his videos and he is promising....chelsea will loan him but will not sell dats for sure

Chelsea are unlikely to be looking to sell our best youth prospects. But as a loan signing, this could be a good move for all parties. Chelsea don't have the best reputation for giving youth a chance and considering Franco has shown obvious quality playing for the reserves and on our pre-season tour last year (he finished top scorer in the reserves the season he arrived, despite not making an appearance until late January), he is unlucky to have only made 5 minute cameo appearances so far. He does look a class act though and if Allardyce wants to take him and give him the experience he so desperately needs, maybe it is a good move.

and all it took was a world wide serch lol. great article... looks like a good signing- but if were only going to have him for one season, then surely were better off persevering with Derbyshire?

Good skills Bom... well done mate. I have seen him play twice last season on the telly and he looked very VERY handy so as a loan deal this is a great idea but Chelsea wont sanction a sale as if he is very good then they wont want to get rid for ever.

I just hope this is with the idea of having a younger 1st/2nd choice striking line-up - - - Di Santo & Derbyshire and Roberts & McCarthy,, then any combination after that..... and not as a l'ook wot i got on loan' as we see one of the better english talents disappear off to Greece!!!!

Di Santo is good, just needs regular footy to kick start his senior career!
