Rovers Sign Van Heerden

Rovers Sign Van Heerden

Blackburn have signed South Africa international Elrio van Heerden from Club Brugge as Sam Allardyce completes his first summer signing.

Van Heerden joins the Premier League club on a free transfer from the Belgian side and signs on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old mate of Benni McCarthy can play anywhere across the midfield and is exactly the type of player that Sam wanted to bring in.

He is currently training with the South African squad ahead of the Confederations Cup, but was given permission to leave the training camp in order to sign his Rovers contract and complete formalities.

He also use to play for FC Copenhagen and is a vibrant, pacy player.

As Sam is looking to add a more youthful, vibrant look to the Rovers squad next season - this is step one in the right direction.

Unless he has improved a lot by Brugge, he is nothing! (He played a little for FC Copenhagen, but not a lot). Though I could be surprised, or hopefully will. A Villenueva type, too soft I think. Cheers Riisenholt

i think he looks preeeeeeeetty good mikey! could take a bit of time to adapt, but i see him very much in the same sort of light as an antonio valencia type of player. lets wrap up some more signings now! looks as though were going down the free transfer route atm if we sign up the two marseille lads!

Any idea why he was going on a free? Holding out for a better club, or surplus to requirements?

Out of contract as Bruge wouldn't take the risk on him due to his injury proneness, did his cruciate at one stage and was out for a while. I hope he doesnt end up like reid and dunn.

Yes EVH is looking good on U-tube, the opposition doesn't look great though. Where does leave one of my favourite young lads, Alan Judge? I really like AJ and he is a 100% tryer. Hmmm...
