MGP In Discussions Over New Deal

Morten Gamst Pedersen is in talk to extend his Ewood stay. Pedersen has been with Rovers since 2004 and has been really hit and miss since joining the club but Big Sam is a big fan and loves his work rate.

He has been known in his early days for the spectacular but he also known for his erraticness as well.

The Lancashire Telegraph says Pedersen is holding talks with Blackburn Rovers over a new contract and talks are going well.

The 27-year-old has been a mainstay in the side since his arrival and a new deal is sure to follow.

Pretty happy with this but I feel we need some proper competition out there to get the best out of Morten! He has slumped the last few seasons.

I'm having an alarming sense of deja vu as i read this. He is a commited chap to the rovers cause but needs to find that spectacular edge again which ade him so hard for defenders to deal with. Maybe the club should insert any pay increases into a goals scored bonus, might make him take ai a little more. He just isn't producing enough at the moment but he is a solid part of the squad.

Solid is the word I was searching for!!!! thanks for that Roversman!

we should sign him performance based, long term. that way if he keeps current form, we don't lose anything. if he picks up again, we don't lose him to another club. another deal Big Sam will finish up quickly
retroflair31
he definitely needs to lift his game, but queitly, he produced 7 assists for us last season, one of the top in the league. we need to re-sign him for sure.

Hopefully he'll be given a pay cut. He has been really poor for a long time now.
durks de rover
Is that stat right domi? sounds rather high for him that!!!

i know it's hard to believe and i just check on the premier league official website again; he's credited with 8 assists for the season, 11th in the league, on par with ryan giggs and one more than gareth barry.

I'm not against this but am slightly disappointed that MGP hasn't exactly had to do more to earn this. He's got it far to easy and needs more competition, that way we might see a more consistent MGP and see him produce what we know he's capable of all the time instead of every now and again.
