Duff Dreads A Repeat Performance

Former Blackburn Rovers winger Damien Duff is worried about suffering relegation from the Premier League for the second time in his career.

Duff is part of the Newcastle United squad that is battling relegation this season (having suffered this with Rovers in 1999) and the Republic of Ireland International in fearful of relegation happening again and he doesn't want a repeat of the lowest point of his career. However, Duff is using his relegation during his time with Rovers as inspiration to help motive him.

Duff told Sky Sports: "I got relegated with Blackburn. I'm not sure how many of the other lads in the dressing room have, but it's not a nice feeling to have, and it was the lowest point of my career.

"I don't want it to happen again, so I will be doing everything I can - and I'm sure the other lads will as well - to keep us up.
"

Personally I've been waiting for Newcastle to escape the relegation zone but this just isn't happening and I'm not sure that it will, with or without Duffer being as motivated as he says he is?!?!

However, so long as it's not us that goes down I don't really care who it is, however, as I've always had a lot of time for Duffer (and Alan Shearer) I'd not want him to have to go through relegation again, but I'd rather it was them than us if it had to be one or the other!!! The League table doesn't lie over 38 matches though does it so those that finish in the bottom three will deserve this won't they.

I'm not sure Duff would be worth the wages etc to buy him back. That said, Duff - Dunn combo does have a certain nostalgic charm :D

It depends on wages etc doesnt it? if hes asking for his newcastle wages he's having a laugh!!!

Duff has never been the same player since he left Rovers and Chelsea wasted his talent...bringing him back would be for the wrong reasons, where would he play?? I liked him though and always look for him to see hows he's done, but Newcastle are all but gone, someone in the Premierleague should take him though..

More to the point... how much would he cost and do we need a left winger?
Mikey D
while i don't think we can afford Duff, i'm moving towards showing Gamst the door. i think Big Sam likes his throw too much for that though

Cant stand newcastle! hope they go down! as for duff, i love him to bits, what a top top player, would openly accept him back at Ewood!
Blue n Whitey
if he leaves the toon in the summer i can see him going to a side like Everton perhaps?!
Blue n Whitey
good man bluey!!! toon can go 6ft under....... as for duffy, great player, but no thanks, we dont need players here for sentimental reasons

Personally I think that Duffer would come back, not that I think he will.

Boys this is a new era....NO ONE will enter the club under 6ft and Morten is our Rory Delap n i'm made up!!!....Never thought i'd say it bein a football purist but i have been so worried about where we were going without the neccessary funds to compete...Now Sam will make us solid and effective...it wont be pretty but i cant wait to put the wind up some of these "bigger clubs" Ha ha
