Tugay Definitely Retiring At End Of This Season

As reported yesterday, we have recieved definite news today - Blackburn legend Tugay will definitely leave Blackburn at the end of the season, confirmed by Sam Allardyce.

Tugay has played for Rovers since 2001, a Rovers career spanning eight seasons, after he arrived from Rangers for a frankly scandalous £1.3million.

Allardyce, speaking to Rovers official website, said - 'We will say farewell at the end of the season and thank you very much for what you have done for Blackburn.

'Certainly if we remain in the Premier League, Tugay can bow out gracefully after playing at the top level most of the time.

'He has had a fantastic career. But at 38 and the ever-increasing demands of the Premier League, certainly in a physical sense, it means you cannot go on forever.'

I cant even put into words how much Tugay has contributed to life as a Rovers fan over the time he has been here.

All I know is that he has a place in everyone's hearts and will leave a hero.

Make sure everyone on Facebook joins that testimonial group.

I think we should just smile and be greatful that we were honoured to have his prescence at the club. Not many men come to our club and leave a lasting image, Tugay is definately 1 of a kind, an honour to have had the great man playing for our club. Hopefully he can work through his badges, as Sam has said there wont be an immediate coaching role as he is not qualified

Have to agree with everyone, a true legend for rovers. Not only a fantastic player, but a true rover through and through. Always gives 100%, and couple that with his loyalty and his wonderful skill, and it's tough to think of a player who is more loved by rovers fans. So many fantastic memories, but one of my favourites was a couple of seasons ago against liverpool when he nutmegged Gerrard and sent a peach of a pass sliding through to Pederson who crossed for McCarthy to score. Brilliantly simple and simply brilliant. Hope he gets his coaching badges quickly and comes back.

Tugay , i have had the pleasure of watching him play for so many years, from his days at Rangers to the end of his career... he has simply been a revelation..a very modest man who i have never seen give an interview but what a footballer, had every pass, every trick and could score goals that would match anything seen in the league. A TRUE LEGEND..
