'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rovers Lead Chase For Espanyol Star

Blackburn Rovers are leading the chase to sign highly rated Espanyol defender Albert Lopo, who becomes a free agent at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has spent his entire career at Espanyol having come through the club's youth ranks. He has been a virtual ever-present for the past three seasons and has enjoyed a particularly consistent campaign this term despite his side's struggles in La Liga.

Espanyol are hoping to keep hold of the player but have thus far failed to persuade him to sign a new deal.


Lopo's agent Tente Sanchez is unsurprised by the interest and told Sky Sports News.

'The player has done excellently this season and the interest in him is normal. There are also options in Spain.'

I haven't seen much of Lopo but Hughes is a good judge of player ability and knows what he needs for his team. I hope you lot get him.
