Rovers Linked With Zigic Again

Nikola Zigic is once again being linked with Blackburn Rovers, and with him leaving Valencia in the summer there are some reports that Sam Allardyce could be interested.

Paul Ince was interested in the giant Serbian last summer and it is understood that he came close to signing the striker (with Stoke City also interested), however, the 28-year-old ended up on loan with Racing Santander and after a successful spell a permanent move away from Valencia is expected and a move to England this summer does interest him.

Zigic was quoted on Sky Sports as saying: "Valencia hold the key to my future and I will make a decision on what to do next after meeting with the club in June.

"I am happy in Spain but I need to play regularly and that has proven difficult at Valencia.

"I will only leave for a club that has ambition and where I will get the opportunity to play. England? That is a serious option for me.
"

Aston Villa are also understood to be interested in Zigic, who is attracting a lot of attention according to Valencia's Sporting Director Fernando Gomez.

Gomez added: "Some clubs have already asked about his situation.

"The subject is on hold until the end of the season, but Zigic is interesting many clubs in Spain and abroad.
"

The Serbian International is ideally suited to Allardyce's way of thinking as he's a tall and powerful target man who could bring others into play so maybe there could be some truth in these reports?

Interesting. He is a good player but what kind of wages would he want? there are a few obstacles ahead I am sure for this one to materialise...

He cant be on much more than Roque and if he wants to play football again then he may jump at the chance, as RSC did - i only worry that he would see us as a stepping stone, which I suppose Rovers in the current climate are, as we just cannot compete for the title or Champs League, but on our day we are a good footballing team, yeah not this year, cos points are more important, but on our day...

Ah yes, pro evo, what you cant learn from that isnt worth knowing!!! I think all this transfer speculation is a little silly until we know either way whether we are staying up or not.

you are right clintos... we are a good footballing side but at the moment that has been chucked out of the window in favour of points, which more or less all us Rovers understand!

I dont think sam will go for zigic because he cannot afford him!! There will be no money to spend and i dont even think the sale of RSC will bring about record smashing amounts of money bein spent!!! Sam will be wiley and cunning.....Givet and Diouf prove this...I think he will buy well but my only hope is that he looks to add some pace right through the team in whatever position that he buys....as for playing football....i think we're dreaming....Sam's teams dont play football they win matches through sound tactical decisions and players who know their jobs and are willing to graft....on the upside we wont lose too many and still may get a european adventure or two....i'll take that cos i dont want anymore sleepless nights like this season!!!!
