Peter Crouch A Rovers Target?

Blackburn Rovers are understood to be waiting to cash in on Portsmouth's apparent financial problems with a summer bid for Peter Crouch.

Sam Allardyce is understood to have tried to sign the England International in the January transfer window without success but WHEN our Premier League safety is secured Big Sam could begin the building of his own side with a £10 million move for the 28-year-old who has scored 10 goals in 31 Premier League appearances for Portsmouth this season.

With debts (apparently) pilling up for the South Coast club they look like they will have to sell more of their best players in the summer. Having already lost Lassana Diarra (to Real Madrid) and Jermaine Defoe (who returned to Tottenham Hotspur) in January, Crouch (who earns a reported £60,000 per week) is another high-earned that could be offloaded at a good price to help ease these along with his fellow England International Glen Johnson, who is understood to be interesting Liverpool?

Crouch fits perfectly into Big Sam's ideal big target man mould, as these are the types of striker that he has always liked to have play for his sides.

Personally I'd not be uhappy if we signed Peter Crouch, and he is a Big Sam type of player. However, we'd need to offload RSC first (which is going to happen anyway isn't it) to raise some money. The thought of Crouch and Matt Derbyshire playing together appeals to me!

You really shouldn't read what is in the papers fellas .. Sure Pompey have a debts but they are now on a par with every other Premier League club... The only way Crouch will leave Fratton Park in the summer is if Pompey go down (but then who could blame him) .. but let's be honest either of us could be in that unfortunate position (although I hope we both survive) .. If anything Pompey need to find a player .. or play a system... which suits two meter peter.. He's a work horse who get's very little praise (or support from his teammates) for his efforts... but £10- £12m would seem about right .. maybe a little more ;)

the only reason crouchy will leave pompey again is if we push him out... even if we went down, not that we will, i reckon unless we made him go - which we would - he would stay...

I doubt this will happen, he would fit in with a big Sam style of play, but maybe RSC will not even leave at the end of this season now.

I would like to see this happen. Its not impossible - despite what the pompey lads are saying, but it is unlikely.

10-12 and he's yours i'd say in the summer. decent player, but would he want another move up north?

Hmm... Crouch and Derbyshire. I like it. Only problem is, I don't think Crouch is actually a great target man, despite his size. He's got a great touch though and is a nuissance, so maybe it could just work.We don't often buy big name premiership players though do we?
