Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce was full of praise for the desire and determination the we showed when beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Ewood Park on Saturday.
After going behind to a controversial penalty late goals from Benni McCarthy and Andre Ooijer saw us pick up three crucial points against the inform Tottenham side, much to Allardyce's delight even if we weren't at our best (which is probably being conservative with the use!!!) and we might've nicked the three points (again maybe conservative.)
Allardyce told Sky Sports. "(We showed) a bit of desire and a bit of determination to overcome a bit of adversity in the penalty decision.
"We never said die and I don't think we have since I got here. It doesn't matter how you win as long as you win and this was probably one of our lesser performances.
"When you concede the first goal it is very rare you come back and win so we have got a very valuable three points.
"We have nicked a win and we are very happy indeed."
Christopher Samba has said that he is happy to answer the call to play as a striker if needed, and injuries meant that this did happen in the second half and Big Sam was full of praise for the big Congolese defender and the job he did as a makeshift striker.
He added: "It is a great credit to the lads because, not just the penalty decision, but Morten (Gamst Pedersen) pulls a calf, Jason (Roberts) hobbles for the last 10 minutes of the first half and we throw Chris Samba up front.
"I thought he made a big difference and he caused their centre-halves a lot more problems in the second half."
The red card to Spurs' Wilson Palacios obviously changed the match (and gave us more chance to come back into and then win the match in the end) and Big Sam did have some sympathy for the Honduran but he felt the decisions did even themselves in the end.
Allardyce also added: "I'm sure Tottenham will feel the sending off was a bit harsh.
"When you look at both incidents, they probably feel the sending-off was harsh and we feel it wasn't a penalty."
