Allardyce: We Nicked A Win And We Are Very Happy

Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce was full of praise for the desire and determination the we showed when beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Ewood Park on Saturday.

After going behind to a controversial penalty late goals from Benni McCarthy and Andre Ooijer saw us pick up three crucial points against the inform Tottenham side, much to Allardyce's delight even if we weren't at our best (which is probably being conservative with the use!!!) and we might've nicked the three points (again maybe conservative.)

Allardyce told Sky Sports. "(We showed) a bit of desire and a bit of determination to overcome a bit of adversity in the penalty decision.

"We never said die and I don't think we have since I got here. It doesn't matter how you win as long as you win and this was probably one of our lesser performances.

"When you concede the first goal it is very rare you come back and win so we have got a very valuable three points.

"We have nicked a win and we are very happy indeed.
"

Christopher Samba has said that he is happy to answer the call to play as a striker if needed, and injuries meant that this did happen in the second half and Big Sam was full of praise for the big Congolese defender and the job he did as a makeshift striker.

He added: "It is a great credit to the lads because, not just the penalty decision, but Morten (Gamst Pedersen) pulls a calf, Jason (Roberts) hobbles for the last 10 minutes of the first half and we throw Chris Samba up front.

"I thought he made a big difference and he caused their centre-halves a lot more problems in the second half.
"

The red card to Spurs' Wilson Palacios obviously changed the match (and gave us more chance to come back into and then win the match in the end) and Big Sam did have some sympathy for the Honduran but he felt the decisions did even themselves in the end.

Allardyce also added: "I'm sure Tottenham will feel the sending off was a bit harsh.

"When you look at both incidents, they probably feel the sending-off was harsh and we feel it wasn't a penalty.
"

They will never change. Ledley King has been quoted as saying that there is no reason why spuds cant break into the top 4 next season

Well we have a better chance of making top 4 than you of making top 8 or 9. You have no quality, play boring football and you guys have nothing to look forward to in the summer or the next season as you are destined to be in another relegation scrap. We had the worst start in 126 years(Worst start ever) to our leauge campaign and everything that could poosibly go wrong for us this season as gone wrong and we are still 4 points ahead of you, we reached the league cup final for the second consecutive season at wembly and were unlucky to lose on penalities and we to date are the only team in the league who are unbeaten against the so called Big 4.On the other hand You have had a decennt season, and you are still Unsure of your league status. I think taht tells quite a lot about both clubs and Their expectations

And del if any club is capable of breaking into the top 4. then it is surely us. We have more than enough funds, a great 60000 seater on the way and have a very good squad. We have had 2 fifth place finishes in the past 3 seasons and have been playing european football for the past 4 seasons, Have thrashed Arsenal 5-1 in the semis and outplayed chelsea in the final to win the league cup last year, very unlucky not to win it this year at wembley and the big 4 fear us more than anybody. We have put 4 past chelsea,5 past arsenal,4 past liverpool all quite recently, we finished second highest goalscorers in all competitions last season and our squad player to player is worth 40 million more than liverpool ,astronomically more than arsenal and just 5 million less than united(3rd most expensive squad). So any team other than the Big 4 care to compete.
