Mokoena To Leave Rovers

Aaron Mokoena has today announced tht he will leave Rovers at the end of the season.

Aaron has been on the peripheral at Blackburn for a few years now and his first team chances have been limited but he has done whats asked when called upon at defensive midfield and occasionally right back as well.

His decision is likely to come with South Africa hosting the World Cup in 2010 and his need for first team action on a regular basis.

Speaking to the South African Times, Aaron said - 'I am definitely leaving Blackburn. I always want to play but I cannot change the coach's decision,'

'It has been very frustrating because I could have left in January but they asked me to stay.

'I want a club where I can get enough game time. I am 28 and need to play on a regular basis.'

At the end of the season Aaron will leave with our best wishes I am sure. He is not everyone's cup of tea but he has always committed himself to the cause.

For that you always get a round of applause from yours truly.

well it was on the cards. say what you like about his ability, but the Axe is one who never complained and like he said- stayed because he was asked. thats a touch of class and i wish him all the best where ever he ends up

It's not really a surprise is it really, and this is something I have expected for a long time. The Axe isn't the best player in the World but we never hear him moaning about not playing really do we, so it's only fair that he moves on, however, all credit to him for staying until the end of the season.

Not suprised by this, but The Axe has always been commited no matter how much he has been slated, given 100% for the cause. I wish him the best in the future.

Remeber guys, a large reason we stayed up during the 04/05 season was the Axe and the shield he formed in front of the defence. He isnt the best but he gave his all... good on him.

its also interesting that axa has said benni may also leave too, as he is very close to him and he has had enough. this would be major blow especially with roque expected to leave

I think we will see plenty of comings and goings this summer due to the new manager wanting to put his stamp on the team.

The axe might not always have swung straight or true, but at least it was always there to swing...

I think his Ewood career has run its course Thai. I am sure he will give his all for his future clubs though.
