VAT's More Like It

VAT's More Like It

A good new story today as Rovers have donated a large sum to East Lancashire Hospice after the VAT was cut on ticket prices in November/December of 2008.

The British government`s decision to slash VAT by 2.5 per cent was announced after the tickets for the 3-1 home defeat by Liverpool, so the Blue and White Army decided to donate any extra revenue generated by sales after the tax cut on December 1 to the local charity.

At a time when football clubs are greedy mercenaries and amidst ridiculous claims from the media that Rovers are 'in huge financial trouble' which of course is blown all out of proportion, Rovers should be commended for this gesture.

As a result of this gesture - East Lancashire Hospice recieved £1,263.39.

Rovers` managing director Tom Finn, speaking to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph said - "As East Lancashire Hospice is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, we felt it would be fitting to make this donation to them."

Sharon Crymble, from the Community Fundraising department at the Hospice, added - "This is a great gesture from Blackburn Rovers.

'This year it will cost £2.4m to run the Hospice and we rely heavily on the generosity of the local community.

"The Hospice provides invaluable care to the people of Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley."

A great gesture from the club and a bit of a heart warmer. John Williams has always been good with this sort of thing.
