Ryan Nelsen has gone against the grain of what Stephen Warnock has said this week and declared that a good cup run can actually HELP Rovers league form.
The Rovers captain will be out for revenge tomorrow on Coventry and is keen for rovers to make prgoress.
Having enjoyed two semi-final appearances in his four-year stint at Ewood against Chelsea and Arsenal - both of which resulted in heoric defeat. But Ryan thinks the third time could be a charm.
The Admiral, speaking to the LET - "In the past we have had really successful cup runs, and that has helped us in the league. It gets you on winning runs and I hope that would be the same if we continued a good run this year.
"If you win anything it breeds confidence. We are doing alright confidence wise but it is just getting a winning mentality. Obviously that helps.
"I know from experience, I have got to the semi-final a couple of times and it has helped us rather than hindered us in the league.
"It would be fantastic for the fans and the players to go to Wembley. It would just be a brilliant day. We have got close a couple of times so it would be nice to finish it off."
The New Zealander believes that last season's humiliation will leave Rovers BETTER prepared for tomorrow.
Ryan, continuing - "Coventry played well and deserved the victory on the day. They frustrated us and I think every individual player took it upon themselves to remedy the situation, which exploded on us.
"We ended up with about nine people playing as striker. It was a good learning experience and we know we can`t take them lightly.
"It is a similar game, Coventry will bring great support again and it is definitely a lesson to learn from. In the Carling Cup and FA Cup there have already been some pretty big upsets.
"They have a manager who has a lot of experience with Premiership teams so it will be a very tough game."
Wise words indeed.
