Sam's Fitness Warning For Benni Mac

Sam's Fitness Warning For Benni Mac

Sam Allardyce has warned Benni that he needs to keep in shape to help him maintain his form and secure his place in the South Africa line up when the nation hosts the World Cup in 2010.

Benni has been back to his best in recent weeks with his predatory instincts in full flow.

However, Sam has warned Benni not to rest on his laurels.

Allardyce, speaking to everyones favourite The Sun, said -'Benni sometimes is his own worst enemy, [he is] a very talented player but not quite at the fitness levels he could be at,'

'Get that right and he plays more and more. Benni`s been up and down too much. He was on a massive up, [and now] he`s been on a massive down for too long.

'At his age [31-years-old] he has to be spot on, as fit as he can be. If he wants to produce his best [then] that is the key element to having a career for as long as he wants.'

Wise words indeed - Benni for my money is technically our best player. It is just his attitude which suffers sometimes.

But no doubt he can be our saviour this season.

This is good for my money as it shows that Sam is not afraid to tell it like it is.

Some good advice really from Big Sam. We need Benni in tip top condition to fire us up the league. To be fair hes been good recently so more of the same please Benni!

The question for me though is who partners him?

Whoever is the other in form striker, at this moments its got to be JR for me, until Roque gets back his sharpness and bangs in some more goals which hopefully is only just round the corner. Whatever happens all 3 strikers have a massive part to play in the run in and will all find themselves with a run of games at some point, its up to them to score goals, play well and give Sam a selection dilemma he wants.

Although i'm not sure Benni is our best player, he is definitely one of our two best strikers. right now i'd be partenering him with JR. I love that guy- holds up the ball, tries his best and is in form. Of course if RSC was fit and firing i'd have to completely swing around and have JR with RSC... hows that for contridiction! worked well last season though

I dont think Sam should be having a go at Benni in public.. this is the kind of stuff that should be said behind closed doors!! Have a go at Roque if ya want, he's done f#ckall this season, at least Benni is playing well and scoring goals!!
