Former Rover Moves Down Under

Blackburn Rovers flop Robbie Fowler is looking to revive his career with a move to the Australian A-League.

Rovers manager Sam Allardyce released the 33-year-old shortly after his arrival at Ewood Park after a disappointing stint under former chief Paul Ince. Fowler had been linked with a player/coach role with Grimsby Town and was also linked to sides in China but the former Liverpool, Manchester City, Leeds United, Cardiff City and England International has now signed a two-year contract with North Queensland Fury, who will make their entry into the A-League this season.

Rovers took a chance on Fowler, this didn't work for him but I don't think that we can say that we lost that much did we, as it didn't cost us any players and the contract he was understood to have played to wouldn't have cost us much in terms of cash either.

Robbie Fowler a flop at Blackburn? Can I remind everyone that he also flopped at Liverpool, Manchester City, Leeds and Cardiff! An unwlecome mercenary who had one interest in life - Robbie Fowler. I'm glad to hear that Blackburn didn't lose to much money on him, Mancity wasted £6million on him. It's a shame really as he was an awsome player for Liverpool in his first stint there, but he really should have retired years ago. The A-league will never improve if it signs crocks like Fowler!

Flooped at Liverpool?!?! I think they may argue differently!!! lol

I remember him coming through, i am 23 and been watching football for only 16 years but i really cannot think of a player as capable in front of goal as Fowler was during the 90s, its sad to see him playing so poorly these days (well the last 9 years!!)

He has really gone downhill but during his Liverpool days he was the most natural goalscorer there was.
