Window Closes With Santa Still In Place

Blackburn Rovers managed to get through the January transfer window with Roque Santa Cruz (and others) still at Ewood Park.

As the day went on Sky Sports News did understand for a brief moment that a deal to take Santa Cruz to Manchester City might have still gone ahead, but this didn't happen and the Paraguayan International will now stay at Ewood until the summer at least.

It might have been a quiet time with players coming in, but with the quality that we already have in place at Rovers not that much was needed really so it didn't happen. The season ending injury to Brett Emerton is a major blow to Rovers and probably played a major role (and this injury probably added to Santa staying, new signing El Hadji Diouf will now be deployed as a right-sided player, when he might have moved up as an out and out striker had Santa gone and Emerton not been injured.)

We can now concentrate on the rest of the season and the task in hand of ensuring we survive relegation, which we will!!!

I would still have preferded that we had focused our attention on getting a "true" right midfielder...just dont see Diouf playing out there.

yeah, maybe so redstarman, but i think diouf was playd in tht position at bolton under big sam, and he worked, and there is no reason why it cant work again...... is there in any way of getting pictures uploaded, because my 'Rovers snowfan' is well worth the viewing!!

What then about Ahmed Al-Mohammadi?? Sure that his potential and effectiveness on the wing better.

I am inclined to agree with Big Sam, the January transfer window is so disruptive especially to clubs like us, it should be completely scrapped. I'm happy that all this crap is now over and the lads (Roque in particular) can re-focus on keeping us up!

Everyone has to unite for the common goal. I am suprised that it appears we hae not signed an additional right sided player but then so be it. We will go with what we have if that is the case.

I bet we start playing 3 up with Spit on the right! Would also make sense with out (lack of) midfield options!

The January window has once again been disappointing.....
Heldacaite
I dont think we will start that way Bom... its more of a tactical change - McCarthy does look great in that hole though.

I think that Santa Cruz is professional, so he will go about things in the right way and now give his all for Rovers. If he wants to move on in the summer, then he will need to perform between now and then.
